    Elementary Agriculture is the teaching of agriculture, natural resources, and

    land management through hands on eperience and guidance to prepare students

    for entry level !o"s of to further education to prepare them for advanced agricultural

     !o"s# It is taught in pu"lic schools and deals $ith such su"!ects as ho$ plants and

    animals gro$ and ho$ soil is farmed and conserved# %chool gardens are cultivation

    areas or school la"oratories around or near schools, for production of fruits and

    vegeta"les and may include small scale animal hus"andry and &shery, greening

    'o$ering and shading# (he promotion of school gardens usually aims to$ards

    di)erent o"!ectives, giving pupils *no$ledge and s*ills for "etter agricultural

    productivity and sustaina"le agricultural practices, giving environmental education

    a sustaina"le and practical dimension, change attitudes to$ards agriculture and

    rural life, and increase school attendance school feeding and create income and

    improving food diversity to com"at micronutrient de&ciencies among school

    children and improve overall food security#

    +ere, pupils learned ho$ to plant di)erent *inds of vegeta"les and ho$ to

    ta*e care of them# (hey are the one $ho $atered and too* care of vegeta"lesplanted in the school- li*e petchay, mustard, eggplants, tomatoes, sili, patola and

    malunggay#

     (he production of fruits and vegeta"les in the school garden and the

    su"seuent preparation of healthy in close cooperation $ith the parents $ithin the

    school premises can address the he health and nutrition pro"lems in the school# ut

    the greater pro"lem of malnutrition, especially among children is that it ultimately

    leads to stunted mental and physical gro$th, poor comprehension and lo$er

    performance in school# According to the teachers many children come to school $ith

    an empty stomach# +ungry, unhealthy children cannot concentrate on learning#

     (he vegeta"les that $ere "eing harvested $ere sold to the community and

    others $ere used in the .ree .eeding Program and through this program, our pupils

    "ecame healthier, attentive and they are performing "etter in school#

    Pupils not only learned ho$ to reproduce vegeta"les "ut they $ereencouraged to eat green and leafy vegeta"les as $ell# %o, vegeta"le productionthrough Elementary Agriculture must "e given emphasis#
