Disruption of Events

Marty has a dream of being in the wild. He runs away to live his dream and his friends chase after him and are caught by the humans. They are then sent to Africa but the penguins want to go to Antarctica so they take over the boat causing Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria’s crates to be thrown over board and they end up on Madagascar the island.

We already, as an audience, begin to see the break up of Alex and Marty’s friendship here.

Disruption of Events

Recognition of Disruption

Alex changes from the happy, leader, star to savage, wild lion. All he can think of is meat and even tries to eat Marty.

The penguins also crash the boat into the island.

Attempt to Repair Disruption

All the animals work together to save Alex from his wild side so they can go home on the boat. They have to fight off the fossa. Eventually the good Alex comes back and fights off the fossa.

New Equilibrium

They are about to return home on the boat when we are told it is out of fuel. This leaves an open ending for a sequel.
