Yr 12 Mid-Course Exams
This week our Year 12 students are sitting their Mid-Course exams as the first step in their preparation for their
HSC exams later this year. These exams should be used to gauge how they are travelling and to be able to build on
their knowledge, understanding and skills.
Parent Teacher Evenings
Thank you to all those parents who attended the recent Parent Teacher evenings. It was pleasing to see so many
parents making this effort and the teachers were very pleased and grateful of the opportunity to discuss your child’s
progress with you.
If you were unable to attend the evenings please don’t hesitate to contact the school and speak with your child’s
Year Advisor to organise some feedback.
Our Year Advisors are: Year 7 : Mrs Klose
Year 8 : Mrs Reid
Year 9 : Mr Woolnough
Year 10: Ms Schroder
Year 11: Mr Van Weerdenberg
Year 12: Mrs Sultana
School Bus:
Our school is in the process of organising its own Mitsubishi Rosa school bus.
This will provide a greater range of opportunities for students to access excursions involving smaller numbers at an
affordable cost. We are expecting it to be very well used, and as such, we will still often need to organise buses
from Symons on a regular basis.
Uniform:
A thank you to all parents who are ensuring that students are wearing the correct uniform. Your support is greatly
appreciated. We can improve the level of students wearing uniform if we make sure that students wear the
appropriate school tops and now that cooler days are approaching, our female students wear skirts or shorts over
their leggings or tights.
A copy of the uniform requirements is included in this newsletter (see page 5).
This week, like any other, is a very busy week with a wide range of excursions. We wish all our sporting teams
competing this week the very best.
Finally, congratulations to Georgia Poyner on her 1st place in the Bemboka Triathlon last weekend.
Have a great week and I am sure that many of the students are looking forward to the end of a very busy Term 1
next Friday 7 April 2017. Students return on Wednesday 26 April to commence Term 2.

School Dance Our first school dance will be in the last week of
term, Tuesday night, 4 April.
This is a 'welcome to Year 7' dance and they
have chosen the theme, 'International' costume!
We look forward to seeing you there,
representing all parts of our multicultural world!
Last Wednesday Mr Reilly and Ms McMahon accompanied five students to Braidwood Central School for a
debating meet. Three seniors, Cyann, Campbell and Zak attended as well as our two junior participants Jed and
Bryce. For the majority of the NHS students it was their very first time debating. While we didn't take home any
"wins" each student came home a winner by learning so much about debating. There was a friendly and
supportive atmosphere provided by facilitators and students alike.
