INTRODUCTIONQuality of Work Life has always been up in studying organizational

behavior. It is evident from the history that direct studies on Quality of Work Life

started pouring-in after the first paper presentation by Davis in 1972 at Arden

House, US and thereafter, there was a greater pressure on Quality of Work Life

studies as organizations increasingly adopting the philosophy of making the man

happy at work for enhancing their motivation and will to work. In present scenario

of high technology world, it has become a great concern for management as well

as employees. Quality of working life is the most substantial work related

behavioral phenomenon which has positive impact on production, work culture

and effectiveness of the organization. Though lot of work has been done on

Quality of Work Life in different areas, but unfortunately a bit attention has been

made to variables pertaining to the current research endeavor. Therefore, special

attentions of researcher especially have been made on this point.

Payne and Pheysey (1971) in the light of an interesting study conducted on

organizational climate came to conclusion that job satisfaction is an indicative of

positive Quality of Work Life. This was to highlight qualities of employee’s work

life. Job satisfaction is an indicative of positive quality of working life. Hence,

whatever studies will be put forth on job satisfaction would be determining

relationship of some variable as its important determinants.

Pestonjee (1973) reported that supportive organizations are truly related to

workers morale and job-satisfaction. Similarly in a study conducted by Schnider

and Snyder (1975), it was found that climate and satisfaction are positively

correlated and 76 almost the same result was found in a study of Lafollette and

Sims (1975), as they found organizational climate and organizational practice

correlated to jobs. Rajappa (1978) found that organizations with achievement

oriented climate were highly productive.

DAIRY INDUSTRY IN INDIA

The dairy industry in India is going through major changes with the liberalization policies of the

After stagnating to 80 million tonnes for 20 years between 1950 and 1970 Indian milk

production began to rise. Crossing 30 million tonnes in 1980 and 59 million tones 1992. Today

India ranks as the world second largest milk producer after U.S.

contributing 11% of the market. The production of milk in India is 577 lakhs of tonnes per year. It

may be seen that the milk procurement by the organized sector is presently, a fraction of the

SOURCES OF DATA

Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem .

methodology deals with the research design , data collection method, sampling

method, analysis and interpretation done and limitations inherit in the project

Primary Data:

Interacting and interviewing the employees of VIJAYA DAIRY ,Nellore by providing

them through Close-ended questionnaire.

Secondary Data:

Internal and External secondary data is collected for the purpose of study. Internal

secondary data were collected within the company records, previous research reports and

other relevant information and through internet sources.

Data source :primary data

Population size :500

Sample size :90

Research instrument-close-ended Questionnaire

Contact method -Random sampling method

TOOLS USED FOR ANALYSIS:

Well established statistical tool like percentage method and bar diagrams have

been used carefully. Meaningfully analyzed the data collected through survey.

FORMULA:

Percentage = number of respondents/total number of respondents *100

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

All the employees of the organization may not be interested to express their views.

The collected views of samples of workers may not represent the views of all workers in

organization.

There is no measure to check out whether the information provided but the workers true or

not.

As VIJAYA DAIRY is a big organization it was impossible to interact all the employees

in different department because of time factor.
