Principal’s Message Thank you to the parents who attended our ‘Information Evenings‘ last week. Teachers have sent out the relevant information for those unable to attend. These include consumable items such as exercise books, paper, cardboard, paint and glue as well as classroom equipment such as scissors and rulers. Voluntary Contributions for 2019 are $40.00 for the first child $25.00 for the second child $10.00 for the third and each subsequent child These rates have been maintained for over fifteen years. Letters to each family will go out this Wednesday 20 th February, requesting voluntary contributions. Please make your full payment at the school office by Wednesday 10 th April. Alternatively you may choose to pay half your contribution by 29 th March and the remainder by 10 th May, 2019 (Week 2 Term 2). School Photos Photo packs went home last week. Please remember to return them before or on photo day.

Family photo envelopes are available from the office.

Photo Day is Tuesday 26th February. P & C Meeting and School Lunches At our recent P & C Meeting it was raised by some new members that having the lunch orders online was disadvantaging some members of our school community who did not have access to the internet, stopped children developing financial literacy skills and hindered children’s social skills by not being able to order lunch over the counter. This concern will continue to be debated over the coming month. I would like to reiterate that the school made the decision to swap lunch times based on a large amount of research pointing to improved learning outcomes and behaviour, linked to appropriate dietary rosters. To support this endeavour the canteen streamlined their approach so lunches could be ready before the 11:00am eating time. Part of this was having lunches ordered online. I would also like to reiterate that this was for the best learning outcomes for the students in our school. This issue looks like it will head towards a school wide referendum into lunch times. It is important that every community member has a voice in this decision. More information will follow around this issue in the coming weeks. Many thanks, Anne Doherty KidsMatter The KidsMatter focus for the next 2 weeks is- Other People can help if you talk to them. Get a reality check. Being able to talk to other people when you have bad times and feel unhappy or worried will help you to bounce back. Choose someone you feel that you can trust. When you talk to someone else about a problem, you get a reality check, because they will tell you their ideas or information. They will also help you and care about you. Talking to someone about your problems sometimes takes courage and it is a sign of strength.
