FALL WINTER 2010/2011

Napapijri shares Sebastian Copeland’s belief that today, more than ever, we need to: recognize that science must promote our ability to live in harmony with our host planet; turn concerned citizens into ecological ambassadors and rally behind a unified coalition of accountability to fight the last vestige of an old mentality.

SEBASTIAN COPELAND

A photographer, environmental advocate, author and adventurer, Sebastian Copeland sits on the board of directors of President Gorbachev’s Global Green USA, an NGO committed to the safeguard of the planet. Copeland has traveled extensively to the Poles, North and South, to document the dramatic consequences of climate change. Sebastian Copeland shot the Napapijri Fall Winter 2010/2011 advertising campaign in Engadina, Switzerland; he also acted as testimonial for the Brand, which supports his great passion and enthusiasm and shares the belief that we can all contribute to raising awareness about climate change.

“Climate change has finally entered our collective consciousness. After timid beginnings, steeped in what was often perceived as a culture of tree huggers and esoteric research, societies across the globe have begun peeling off the layers of denial, ignorance and strategic opportunism that have prevented timely action against the now impending threat of runaway global warming.

In truth, saving the planet is a cause that had it tough from the start; its basic precept – a misnomer – is deceptive. The planet does not need us to save it: we need it to save us! For one, the nature of climate is to always be changing. As to global warming, well, this has to be the worst term used to describe what is now widely believed to be the greatest threat ever to face humanity. To begin with, and for about half of the world, warmer actually sounds appealing. Additionally, with a temperature increase of just over one degree Celsius over the last century, the issue has hardly felt precipitous. The long-term ramifications have made it easy to avoid responsibility and conclude that future problems belong to future people. We’ll pay for their education, even while we destroy their future.

It is time we help our children claim their future back and in so doing celebrate the coming Age of the Environment”, said Sebastian Copeland.

A special project that celebrates the partnership with Sebastian Copeland: a faithful replica of styles manufactured for his expedition to the North Pole, evoking the beautiful white landscapes and extreme environmental conditions.

The items are made of ultra-performing materials such as chocoripstop fabric, a valuable ripstop nylon with technical resistance to WP 20.000 mm of water column and two laminated layers (with a wicking layer) and completely seam-sealed.

Inspiration behind this collection comes straight from the Arctic regions, from the Russian army’s floating stations. The “Arctic Base Development Survey” setting and the experience of living on ice are the sources for the creation of high performance products.

Careful choice of materials for ensuring high technical performance in terms of breathability, three layer lamination, water resistancy, drawstring stops, velcros, rubber coated elastic and taped seams.

MAN - PERFORMANCE

A virtual journey through the four natural elements – Air, Earth, Water and Fire – is the inspiration for the Fall Winter Napapijri Authentic Collection. The more technical and action part of the Collection offers comfortable garments and modern detailing and shapes.

Higher performance items, fully thermo-taped, made of highly technical fabrics, stretch materials, made windproof and waterproof by a WP 10.000 mm membrane and high breathability.
