Why are the ends pronounced?

• Several reasons:

• Bonding order of C(1)–C(2), C(10)–C(11), C(12)–C(13)

and C(21)–C(22) bonds higher (1.6) than the other

bonds (1.1-1.4) stronger Pauli repulsion
