Patients receiving treatment at the Rotary Family Health Days over the weekend

The heavy down power on Saturday 24th Octo-ber did not deter the multitudes of people who turned out to partake on the free treatment and counseling that was being offered by the Rotary Club of Kampala at the Rotary Hospital site at Ngandu, Mukono.

Thanks to the Rotary Family Health days by Ro-tary, close to six hundred people were attended to by the 50- strong team of medical workers and over 30 Rotarians and Rotaractors.

There was exuberance and din, working in the new building that was custom made for a hospital. The flow of crowds was so smooth and uneventful, that many people requested that the outreaches be held at least once a month.

This was but one only of such a medical Out Reach That took place across several coun-tries on the same Day.

Here in Uganda nearly all the 72 clubs were out working on addressing the health gap.

At Mukono, children got the Most attention as all the required cocktails of vaccines were at hand, including a variety of vitamins.

The mothers too had their Day at the hands of a team from The Mulago Cancer Institute led by Dr. Obote to screen against Cervical and breast Cancer.

Word from the president

Dear Rotarians, Rotractors, Interactors and Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our last fellowship in the month of October.

The last three days of last week were the Rotary Family Health days for the entire rotary family in our district. Ours took place on Saturday 24th October at the Rotary Hospital in Mukono. This was the second time for it to be held at this ven-ue, the first one having taken place last year before construction started.

It was exciting to see many members of our club who graced the occasion with their presence. Many rotractors joined the big medical team and altogether did a wonderful job. A very big THANK you to you all, ladies and gentlemen.

We missed all those who could not make it to Mukono for reasons beyond their control but we were comforted by the many messages apologising but at the same time encouraging us. Thank you very much for that support.

It is also important to acknowledge and appreciate the support of our partners in this project which was executed sat-isfactorily.

Finally on The Rotary Hospital, let me take this opportunity to remind all those who pledged money towards the con-struction to honour their pledges. Please pay your pledges in bits on weekly basis if unable to pay entire amount in one lump sum.

This coming Saturday we have a vo-cational tour at Rtn PP Phenny’s tree farm in Mukono District. There is a lot to learn from this tour and you are urged to come in big numbers. Please be mindful of the current weather con-ditions and dress appropriately for this trip. I believe all intending participants have already registered and hope to see you all at the host’s residence on Satur-day at 8:00 am.

Wishing you all a very good weekend as we celebrate the 3rd visit of the POPE to our mother country, Uganda. No other country on the continent has achieved this.

Be a gift to the world.

Pres. Edward Kaddumukasa
