Amanda Hereford: Co-owner of Ambassador Bar and part owner of Stoneyard Greenville As a bar owner with over 20 years of service industry experience I’ve worked through every known part of the industry; from dishwasher all the way up to an owner. After two failed college attempts (both in which I’ve received a degree in) my heart has always brought me back. I woke up every day hating the corporate world and the normal 9-5. After each degree I would find a way to incorporate bartending into my daily life. If you don’t see me behind the bar, you will most likely see me at a Packer, Brewer, or Red Wings game with my husband, Jordan. I enjoy traveling the world on a whim whenever I find time to pull away from work and checking out new local bars and restaurants. “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Kim Stoeger: Owner of Nutritional Healing Kimberly Stoeger, MS, is the clinical nutritionist and owner of Nutritional Healing, LLC. Her passion lies in supporting people’s health through evidence-based medicine (risks versus benefits of medications) and healing therapies through nutrition. Kimberly has a Master’s of Science in Human Nutrition. She works with clients regarding weight and fatigue issues, sports nutrition, food sensitivities and allergies, and general health concerns such as high blood pressure, high glucose levels, high cholesterol/triglycerides, migraines, thyroid conditions and gut dysfunction. She began as a solo act in 2010, and currently leads a team of eight at their downtown Appleton office, and will be opening a pilot location in Green Bay in June 2018.

Lora Glasel: Co-Owner/General Manager of Recyclist / Drop Bar Cafe Lora Glasel, co-owner and general manager of The Recyclist Bicycle Company and The Drop Bar Cafe, strives relentlessly to get more people outside and moving, be it on a bicycle, running, skiing or paddling. She developed the Empower Women's Series, in it's fourth year, to educate and inspire women to live fuller, healthier lives by focusing on topics for the body, mind, and soul. With her business partner, they just opened The Drop Bar Cafe, attached to their Kaukauna location, to give cyclists, walkers and runners a place to commune off the trail. In her free time, Lora enjoys being on her bike on the road or in the woods or spending time with her teenage daughter.

Lacy Hardy: Owner of Sunflower Spa Lacy Hardy is the CEO and founder of the Sunflower Spa. Inspired by her desire to make a difference in people’s health and lives, she transformed her lifestyle and career from a fast-paced corporate technical recruiter in Denver to a spa owner in Appleton, Wisconsin. As well as running the business, Lacy is also a licensed massage therapist and esthetician. The Sunflower Spa opened in Appleton on January 21, 2003 offering massage therapy, body wraps, skin care and waxing. Lacy continues to grow her business and continue her education in the realm of wellness. In her spare time, Lacy is very active. She loves to travel and spend time with her husband Todd and their dog Otis. Lacy’s philosophy on life is, “Live today like it is your last day on earth — or whatever planet you may be on that day.”

Whether you’re getting ready to head on vacation this spring or travel for business to other parts of the globe, your smartphone can be a critical tool to help you connect with the world around you. Here are some translation apps to check out for your travels.

Google Translate is available for Android or iOS and can translate between languages by typing or taking a picture of text (like a sign or a menu). It has an offline mode when you do not have an internet connection and a two-way instant speech translation feature. The number of languages available varies by mode you are using. The app is free and is frequently updated.

Microsoft Translator offers many of the same features as Google Translate and also offers multi-person conversation translation by connecting devices. You can also look up and learn common phrases. The personal use app is free, but there is also an enterprise feature for business applications.

TripLingo is a more full-feature travel tool. It has instant translation, although fewer languages are available than Google Translate or Microsoft Translator. However, TripLingo helps you become a more informed traveler helping you learn essential phrases, providing a crash course on local culture and etiquette, and offering currency conversion features. There is a free and paid version of this application.

Bixby Vision is a built-in feature on the latest Samsung devices, no app required. Bixby vision can translate print via your camera lens. It can also be your tour guide, identifying landmarks and giving your more information about them. Beyond travel, Bixby powers image search if you want to learn more about a product that you see. With this feature it’s all about your smartphone being smarter and doing more without an app.

Stay connected and be an informed traveler with these tools and your smartphone. As always, follow Cellcom online for more tips and tricks on getting the most out of your smartphone.

Cellcom is the preferred provider for

The Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce.
