Slave being whipped unnecessary.
35 I thought that it was unnecessary to whip slaves when they mess up or do little things.
Being called bad names like “negroes”
29 I thought he put that sort of language in the book is because to tell us that slaves were rarely called by their real names the whites would give them a name “negroes.”
People selling African Americans
40 The only reason whites sold slaves is to earn money off of the slaves by selling them to the highest bidder

READING RESPONSE
I disliked and liked the book “To Be A Slave”. I disliked the book because it talked about how slaves were treated and what they were called. But what I did like about the book is that at the end the slaves were set free.
