Forward Nalpeiron eLicenses are a cloud-based method of Rights Management for AFT Software. Standalone and network eLicenses are offered and will provide enhanced ease of usage and flexibility. The key benefits of using the eLicense method of Rights Management for AFT Software include:

• AFT Copy Protection installation NOT required • Separate license servers NOT needed • No user/IT effort to update licenses with new products or additional seats

o No need for email exchange of license files (except initial Registration.txt file containing eLicense code)

o All licenses activated and managed by AFT, allows user access immediately after software purchase

• Standalone eLicenses easily transferred from one computer to another • Network eLicenses can be checked out for offline usage (no internet available)

This guide provides detailed information regarding: 1) standalone and network eLicense functionality, 2) AFT software installation for use with an eLicense, and 3) using the AFT eLicense Manager.

Standalone eLicense Functionality • Standalone eLicenses for single users

o Standalone eLicense can only be activated on one machine at a time • Standalone eLicenses activated using internet (port 80)

o Can activate remotely (with certificates from internet enabled machines) Client machine does not require internet access

• Licenses can be deactivated and moved to another machine o Also can be done remotely

• Licenses need to be re-activated yearly

Network eLicense Functionality • Internet access required for user (standard port 80) • Features (or AFT applications) “checked-out” for use with internet connection

o Client machine can be offline after AFT Application is checked out Client machine needs internet access to release features (i.e., check

licenses back in), or to retrieve them (i.e., checking out a different product)

• Network eLicenses can be checked out up to seven days for offline usage • Network eLicense Interval Check period is one week

o If an eLicense has not been checked back in within seven days, eLicense gets checked back in automatically

Installation Overview The only installation required is of the AFT software itself. AFT will provide a Registration.txt file that contains the eLicense code which will allow the software to operate with the eLicense. The Registration.txt file must be placed in the AFT application folder where the AFT software executable resides in order to run the software. It is important to have full administrator rights on the computer or server where the AFT products are being installed. The following AFT software products are compatible with eLicense Rights Management:

• AFT Fathom 8 – including add-on modules (release date 2015.04.14 or later) • AFT Arrow 5 – including add-on modules (release date 2015.04.14 or later) • AFT Impulse 5 – including add-on modules (release date 2015.04.14 or later) • Chempak Property Database

eLicense Installation Instructions – Application on Client PC These instructions are for installing the AFT application software directly onto client machines for a local installation. Make sure you are logged in as an administrator during the installation process.

Using the AFT eLicense Manager for standalone eLicneses

Standalone eLicense Activation Before the standalone eLicense can be activated, the Registration.txt file needs to be saved to the AFT application folder where the application executable resides, such as the AFT Fathom 8 application folder shown below.

Page 11: Nalpeiron eLicense User Guide - AFT · • AFT Fathom 8 – including add-on modules ... including add-on modules ... to PAGE 12 of the eLicense User Guide for license transferring

Page 11

After the Registration.txt file is saved to the AFT application folder, the standalone eLicense can be activated in one of the following two ways:

1. Double-click on the AFT application executable file (or Right-Click and choose “Run As Administrator” if it is the first time running the software).

OR

2. Run the “AFTeLicenseManager” within the AFT Application folder then click the Activate button as shown below.

Once the standalone eLicense has been activated on a particular machine, it will remain activated on that machine until it is deactivated through the AFTeLicenseManager utility. For a standalone eLicense, closing the software product in which the eLicense is checked out for will NOT check the eLicense back in for others to use.

Standalone eLicense Deactivation The only way to deactivate a standalone eLicense on a particular machine is to use the AFTeLicenseManager utility. Run the AFTeLicenseManager utility, then click the “Deactivate” button, and this will deactivate the standalone eLicense, as shown below.
