Thankfully, he is fluent in Italian and English, so we are not hindered by language and he will be a great help to us in practicing the language as well. We are really excited about this opportunity. Since we cannot participate with the church throughout the week while we are away at school, we are thankful for the time we will have with someone from the church. This will be our first chance to develop a deeper relationship with a fellow church member! We ask for your prayers in this opportunity and as we are able to start building relationships with those here. We are moving along in our language class. We are learning more words and grammar everyday. It is definitely a challenge, but we call it an “enjoyable challenge”. We are trying to speak it in all that we do now. Mostly it is words here or there in the midst of English, but we are starting to see improvement. Our teacher mentioned it could easily be a couple months before we are really speaking conversationally. This was an encouragement to us, as well as a reminder that it will come in time. So for now we are definitely beginners, but we are trusting in time we will be proficient in Italian! We are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this year. However, it comes with mixed emotions. This is our first holiday away from family, friends, and all that is familiar in our culture. We do not have an oven in our kitchen, so we will be having a much simpler Thanksgiving meal. With those things in mind, the holidays this year will be different. Our list of thanks is very long and at the top of the list is that we are so blessed to have a God and Savior that welcomes us into his family. We are extremely grateful that our God is with us in all things. We are so excited to celebrate Thanksgiving and start our year off with gratitude. We are so thankful to be here. One exciting opportunity for Ross has come about this past week. There is a college student from the church in Francavilla (where we are attending) that would like to study more about the Bible. He is a student here in Lecce at the University. He is wanting to get together with Ross through the week to

We are moving along in our language class. We are learning more words and grammar everyday. It is definitely a challenge, but we call it an “enjoyable challenge”. We are trying to speak it in all

that we do now. Mostly it is words here or there in the midst of English, but we are starting to see improvement. Our teacher mentioned it could easily be a couple months before we are really speaking
