SERVICES

The Nairobi Parenting clinic offers two core services: Parenting services and Psychiatric and

Psychotherapy services. A detailed breakdown is provided below:

PARENTING SERVICES

The parenting clinic provides parents, teachers and other caregivers with Resources, Research &

life strategies that help mold their child’s emotional and social behavior. The following services

are further provided under this section:

Parenting coaching services

Each child is different and special and each stage of the child’s development presents different

challenges to the parent. Most parents cannot handle these challenges on their own. We find it

very helpful to have a coach available to help you unravel these challenges. The Clinic offers

support, guidance and mentoring to parents via email, Skype, phone or face to-face

consultations.

Key benefits of our coaching services are:

Parents receive individualized and focused help by working with an expert to develop a

“plan” to improve or change your specific situation.

Parents receive constant support as they work to implement the plan.

Parents have the opportunity to discuss and select a new approach when new challenges

arise along the road.

Coaching is Effective because:

Many types of parenting problems respond well to coaching because it is an

individualized approach to each family.

Parents choosing coaching typically find that their ability to select what they need, both

in numbers of sessions as well as the frequency of those sessions, makes this the most

cost/time effective way to find help.

Parenting Training Program

The clinic offers a Parenting Training Program. The program is based on the Incredible Year’s

program which has been widely used within the USA, UK, Canada Ireland, Norway, Denmark,

Sweden, Russia, Portugal, New Zealand and Australia. Currently there are 9 accredited trainers

and 50 mentors in USA, UK, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

In Kenya, the Nairobi Parenting Clinic is the sole clinic that operates the program. It involves

twelve parenting classes. A certificate is offered upon completion. Programs range from newborn

through to parenting teens, with some programs specifically for parents only. Parents from

diverse cultures and backgrounds connect with one another and gain practical skills and

strategies. This program also caters for all childcare providers (Nannies, Grandparents, House

helps, daycare teachers etc.)

The benefits of the program include:

Reduction in children’s aggressive and disruptive behavior

Increase in children pro-social behavior e.g. emotional regulation, sharing, taking turns,

being kind.

Reduction in the number of unnecessary commands by parents

Reduction in the amount parents rely on spanking and other corporal punishment.

Reduction in parents’ stress

Increase in parents’ use of praise with their children

Decrease in parents’ use of criticism with their children

Increase in parents’ reports of their confidence in parenting

Equal in effectiveness to family therapy, while serving five times the number of families

with the same number of therapist hours

Preventive Solutions

Our preventive package includes:

Marital Therapy

Marital therapy helps couples understand and resolve conflicts and improve their relationship.

Relationship evaluation session

At the clinic, we offer counseling to parties of a relationship in an effort to recognize and to

better manage or reconcile troublesome differences and repeating patterns of distress. The

relationship involved may be between members of a family or a couple, employees or employers

in a workplace, or between a professional and a client.

Premarital therapy session

Premarital therapy helps couples prepare for marriage. At the clinic, we equip you with adequate

skills that help ensure that you and your partner have a strong, healthy relationship, giving you a

better chance for a stable and satisfying marriage. We also help you identify weaknesses that

could become bigger problems during marriage.

Drugs of Abuse (Talks and Screening)

At the clinic, we screen for drugs in urine samples. We also offer treatment and referrals to

rehabilitation centers in the country. As a preventive measure the clinic offers talks in

educational and corporate institutions in an effort to reduce drug abuse.

Stress Management session

At the clinic, we help you identify the sources of stress in your life and assist you to develop

appropriate strategies on how to manage stress.

Medical Reports

The clinic offers court case evaluations and reports. Expert opinion is provided in the following
