We have an impressive range of facilities
- a purpose-built gymnasium, large hall
with stage, kitchen, spacious playground,
wildlife garden, parking for parents and
large playing field - meaning that our
children have fantastic opportunities to
take part in all sorts of activities onsite.
These excellent facilities and our
enthusiastic staff and parents mean that
ALL pupils from Year 1 upwards have the
opportunity to join club activities during
lunch times and after the school day.
There is a wide variety of sports clubs,
music and arts clubs and other clubs such
as cookery and gardening. We hope that
there is something to interest every child.
“The range of facilities available was one of
the main reasons we chose Nailsworth
Primary School” Parent of a Year 4 child
We have recently introduced iPads to the
school, to great excitement! Pupils are
using them in Maths (mental maths
challenge), PE (filming each other and
reflecting on gymnastic routines) and ICT
(creating animated films).
Our Library has recently been refurbished
and restocked. The old Library has been
converted into a black theatre room for
all children to develop their Expressive
Arts skills.
We are able to offer parents access to
our onsite Jigsaur childcare service for
breakfast club and after school club.
Nailsworth C of E Primary School in
Gloucestershire is situated at the top of
our bustling little town, Nailsworth,
next to Forest Green Rovers Football
Club! Based in what was originally a
secondary school, we have lots of space
and amazing facilities. PLUS the added
advantage of an onsite pre-school
facility (Phoenix Playmates) and
breakfast / after-school club (Jigsaur).
Our creating a love of learning, life,
and each other ethos provides
encouragement and challenge for all.
We have a growing reputation for
innovative, inspirational and creative
ways of encouraging children to learn
to their highest potential.
Our school environment both nurtures
and encourages children to develop
their talents, allowing them to tackle
their challenges, with careful, targeting
support and direction. We include
children in the running of the school so
that they feel more involved and proud
of the school.
What is important to us? We focus on a different Value
each Term. The chosen values underpin the life of the
school and children are encouraged to use these values
throughout their day to make the most of all the
opportunities open to them.
We are encouraging children to understand their Rights
and be responsible for their actions. The children have
been involved in developing their own Rights and
Responsibilities for their classrooms. We looked at the
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
and selected Rights are helping us shape life at school.
Along with their Rights, children have discussed their
responsibilities to ensure they play their part in making
their Rights work. We especially like Article 29
Education should develop each child’s personality and
talents to the full - we all agreed, children included,
that the children’s responsibility is to make the most of
every moment in school.
“Nailsworth is at an exciting time in its development as a
church school. It has made good progress in establishing a
more secure Christian ethos based on explicit values.”

Themed Curriculum
We strongly believe in preparing children for life. Pupils who are encouraged to think creatively and independently become:
more interested in discovering things for themselves,
open to new ideas,
keen to work with others to explore ideas,
willing to work beyond lesson time when pursuing an idea or goal.
Our approach is based on themes that
inspire and engage children in their
learning. This focus will ensure that
Literacy and Numeracy are integrated
across the curriculum.
“Pupils enjoy their learning and are keen to
do well. They cooperate well in group and
paired work and support each other in their
learning.” Ofsted Report 2011
