It was great to see happy, healthy, rested faces on Monday morning. Our students and staff hit the ground running, with two weeks remaining in the semester to culminate curriculum, projects, and assignments before final exams (see schedule below). Congratulations to the Islander Varsity Football Team, who made history by competing in the state championships! We were honored to share that journey with our gridders, and are so proud of our players and coaching staff. Winter sports are in full swing, and a highlight of the holidays was hosting alumni to play against our current teams in a variety of contests that have become an enduring Islander tradition. Coronado School of the Arts Foundation is exploring adding additional evening and weekend arts experiences for all age groups. CoSA administration and staff will tailor course offerings to the information provided in the following survey. Please take 3 minutes to complete this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ArtsinC oronado. In January go to: www.cosasandiego.com to find more information about future opportunities and how to register for the classes. The first course(s) will begin in February, 2016. Students hear the facts and myths about STDs and see how the choices they make have a lasting impact on the lives of other people. Safe Routes to School Education comes to CHS! Did you know? Biking and walking to school are a great way to improve student health and academic performance! Approximately 60% of CHS students regularly bike or walk to school! However, state rankings show that Coronado ranks low in bike and pedestrian safety. To help address this issue, the City of Coronado and the Coronado Unified School District have partnered to help bring better bicycle and pedestrian safety education to Coronado students and their parents. The partnership includes a $36,000 Safe Routes to School Education Grant that will benefit Coronado Schools, including CHS! As part of the effort to improve safety, the Coronado Police Department will also be increasing bike enforcement efforts in 2016. Want to know more? • Come learn what you need to know at the Feb 8th PTO Meeting (6pm at the CHS

Library)
