• Subject: Employee's Day at the 1957 Lewis Inspection, Friday, ~ October 11 ' , ~
1. An opportunity for each of you to attend the inspection demonstrations will be provided on Friday. Those who are not required for conducting the demonstrations at each stop or for other essential duties at the Laboratory will be excused as of 12:00 for the purpose of visiting demonstration stops• listed on the reverse side of this memorandum.
2. Starting at 12:00 each demonstration will be repeated ;" at 30-minute intervals 'ending at 5:00 pm with the exception
of the stop at the hangar which will start at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00. There will naturally be capacity crowds at each stop and we urge that you will be both quiet and patient
.. while awaiting your turn to be seated in the demonstration area.
3. Visitors to the demonstrations in Room 4 of the M& S building must use the North, outside, stairwell for entrance and exi t.

4. The same luncheon schedule that has been in effect for the formal inspection will be continued through Friday. Only the ERB Room will remain open after 12:00 for service •
.. 5. Weather permitting, the staff is welcome to attend a
<I. brief get-together at the picnic area after 5:00 pm for the usual refreshments at a nominal price.~

The group leaders shall ~e responsible for making the.. necessary introductions upon arrival at each exhibit and for

Ad. Building PAX-520B, each day. Attaches in various groups will be able to obtain information for visitors at any time during the day for members of their group as to status of reservations.

MEMORANDUM For Each Employee.
·. Subject: Family Day, Sunday, October 13, 1957. ~
1. On Sunday, October 13, Laboratoty employees and their families will be given an opportunity to inspect the Laboratory facilities from 1 ~OO p. m. to 5:00 p. m. Citizens of the United States onll: may be admitted under present
• security regulations , and the general public may not be invited. ;
2. Tickets will be issued, through Division Offices, for all persons desiring to attend the Family Day demonstrations. One ticket will be required fo r each adult and the names of children under the age of 12 year s must be written on an adult ticket. Admittance will be at either gate and confusion can be avoided lithe tickets are completed before reaching the Laboratory. Employees should accompany their guests and shall be responsible for their con
, . duct while on the Laboratory grounds. Requests for exceptions to t hese restric.. tions may be directed to the Security Officer for consideration, PAX 4152 . . .
3. All buildings, laboratories, and rooms (except stockrooms and the Mater ials & Stresses Building) normally open during a work day will be open
• during the Family Day. . Each division will be responsible for posting guides , in general areas that it normally uses . For example, one person at the front
door of each office building; two persons per entrance in laboratory buildings ~
... such as Fuels and Lubricants, Instruments, 8- x 6~foot and 10- x 10-foot Supersonic Wind Tunnels; one for each test cell or for a small group of related test cells in ER'B; adequate coverage in shops, etc . Research divisions will be responsible for,all research areas,. and Service and Administrative Divis ions ,. fo r other areas.
4. During Family Day, the Inspection talks, substantially the same as glven during the Inspection, will be repeated approximately ever y 30 minutes (starting on the hour) at the locations and on the subjects shown in the schedule on the r everse side of this memorandum. It Is expected that the M&S demonstratielll will be shown as a movie in tbe Auditorium on this day .

Subject: Request for Revisions to Invitation List for Lewis Inspection to be held October 7-10, 1957
., 1. You are requested to submit recommendations for revisions
to the Invitation List for the 1957 Inspection in order that the 1954 Lewis Laboratory guest list can be brought up to date and forwarded to Headquarters for the issuance of formal invitations.

Lists should include those agencies, companies, universities, service groups, and/or individuals who will benefit from learning mqre about Lewis LaboratorY, as well as thqse whose influence may help NACA or our employees in this commUnity. We are not seeking to increase the number of guests to be invited, but we do wish to make .' certain that our invitations reach the proper persons.
