Dear Parents and Carers
Well done to all the staff and students who dressed up for our ‘Escape to Everywhere’ Book
Week Dress up Day! The costumes looked amazing. Thank you to all parents and caregivers for your support of Book Week and Book Fair last week.
Faction Carnival What an awesome display of sportsmanship and athleticism at our
Faction Carnival yesterday. It was lovely to see so many students involved in all events and enjoying the day.
Special thanks to the P&C volunteers who ran the Sausage Sizzle,
Cake Stall and helped in the canteen. The P&C continue to be very supportive of the Faction Carnival and donated many ribbons and trophies.
Thank you to Mrs Jackson who spends many hours each year
organising and preparing for the day and the events, as well as practising with the students beforehand. Thank you also to both teachers and support staff from the Primary and Education Support
Schools whose contributions and efforts are also greatly appreciated.
NAPLAN Year 3 and 5 students NAPLAN reports were sent home yesterday. A pamphlet outlining how to read your child’s report was enclosed. If you require any further information please see your
child’s teacher. An overview, from a whole school perspective, will be shared in a future newsletter.

Story Dogs Come to Riverside
We would like to welcome our Story Dog volunteers to our school. The Story Dogs program is a volunteer program dedicated to make reading fun for children, so they become confident, lifelong readers.
We are very fortunate to have two volunteers, along with their dogs Poppy and Seth, working with our Year 2 and Year 3 students. The volunteers visit the school once a week to work with a small group of children to help them develop their reading skills.
Enrol your children now in VacSwim swimming lessons during the October and December/January school holidays.
With swimming pools and beaches a part of the Western Australian lifestyle, ensuring your children can swim competently and safely is a must for all families.
Your children can join in the fun of learning to swim in lessons conducted at pools and open water venues across the State.
VacSwim is for all children - from beginners through to advanced survival, rescue and resuscitation.
Congratulations to these junior readers who have achieved their targets. Keep up the awesome effort!
