The farewell ceremony of Std.10th is a grand event at New India School. It was held on 4th, 5th and 6th of February this year.

On 4th February, the students of Std. 9th presented a farewell assembly for the Std. 10th students in the Muktai Hall. All the High School students (8th to 10th) had assembled on this occasion. The values represented by the four houses were reiterated in the form of first person narration by the students. The speeches impressed upon the students that these values would definitely stand them in good stead. The anecdotes shared by Std. 9th of their Std. 10th fellow-mates added humor to the assembly. The assembly ended with the rendition of an inspiring song.On 5th February the school hosted a delicious farewell lunch for the Std.10th students. On the 6th, the students were invited along with their parents at the Sindhutai Bandal Hall on the NIS playground. Inviting the parents for the farewell is Honourable Chairman Shashikantbhau Sutar’s unique idea. He was the Chief Guest of this ceremony too. The programme began with the invocation of Lord Ganesha by students of Std.10th. It was followed by a formal welcome address by the Principal of the High School section Mrs. Poorna Vidwans. In the Award ceremony which followed, awards for Academic Excellence, Excellent Behavior and Full Attendance were presented.

Since, past three years NIS has been giving citations to the most deserving and talented students. A brain child of the director of NIS, Dr. Sunita Bhagwat, these citations aim at recognizing and encouraging the different facets of a student’s personality. Teachers

too were felicitated by the students and the Chairman. This was followed by the speeches of parents and students. The parents reminisced about their childhood and appealed to the students to treasure the valuable lessons learnt at school. The students too fondly remembered their years spent in school. One of the student said, “In the presence of such great teachers, the absence of tuition classes didn’t matter at all”. The student representative also thanked all

the teachers for guiding them. The students were then delighted to see a video clipping about their childhood days. NIS has been following a beautiful tradition of lighting candles and rendering the song ‘This little guiding light of mine….’ It marks the transition of the students to spread the light of knowledge. The Chairman Shri. Shashikantbhau Sutar lauded the efforts of the teachers and wished the students luck for the upcoming board exams. The programme ended with the vote of thanks given by the Class teacher of Std. X Mercury Mrs. Manisha Kutwal.
