Final Relinquishment Report for SEL 10187 for the Period 06/11/1998 to 24/05/2008 Newmont CR 33876 Australian Tenement Holdings Pty Ltd

1. INTRODUCTION

SEL 10187, along with SEL 10186, was held by the Central Desert Joint Venture (CDJV) between Otter Gold Pty Ltd and Anglogold Ashanti Australia Limited for ten years between 1989 and 1998 as EL’s 1271, 1276 and 1277. The success of the CDJV during this time encouraged the JV partners to continue the project and the licences were converted to SEL’s in November 1998.

This report is the final report as the tenement expired on 24/05/2008. It details all exploration carried out over the tenement during the period 06/11/1998 to 24/05/2008.

This report, however, excludes any exploration and/or mining activities on the Tanami Mine Mining Leases.

As Australian Tenement Holdings Pty Ltd has an application for SEL 26926 pending over a significant portion of SEL 10187, it is important that all data supplied in this report remains confidential until any replacement tenure is relinquished.

SEL 10187 is located approximately 650 km northwest of Alice Springs. Access is via the Tanami Track and the Lajamanu Road and is limited during the wet season (December to March).

4. GEOLOGY

4.1 Regional Geology The oldest exposed basement in Central Australia comprises metamorphic and igneous rocks of the Arunta Inlier (Haines et al., 1991). Rocks of the Arunta Inlier are interpreted as being at least partly correlative with sedimentary and volcanic sequences of the adjacent Tennant Creek and Granites-Tanami Inliers.

The Arunta Inlier (Early-Middle Proterozoic) is characterised by metamorphosed sedimentary and igneous rocks of low to medium pressure facies. Deformation and regional metamorphism to upper greenschist facies took place between 1810-1750 Ma (Black, 1981). Shaw and Stewart (1975) established three broad stratigraphic subdivisions based on facies assemblages and lithological correlations. From oldest to youngest, these subdivisions are named Division 1, 2 and 3. Using this model defined by Shaw and Stewart (1975), the orthogneiss east of Osborne Range, the calc-silicate rocks west of Crawford Range and the Bullion Schist would be included in Division 2, and the Ledan Schist in Division 3 of the Arunta Inlier.

Unconformably overlying these rocks are the Hatches Creek Group sediments and volcanics. Blake et al. (1987) formally subdivided the Group into the Ooradidgee, Wauchope and Hanlon Subgroups, comprising a total of 20 Formations and two Members. The Hatches Creek Group is a folded sequence of shallow-water sediments with interbedded volcanic units which reach thicknesses of at least 10,000 metres.

The sedimentary rocks include ridge-forming quartzites, felspathic, lithic and minor conglomeratic arenites and friable arenite, siltstone, shale and carbonate. The Ooradidgee Subgroup consists mainly of fluvial sedimentary and sub-aerial volcanic rocks which partly interfinger. The Wauchope

Subgroup is characterised by large volumes of volcanic and sedimentary rocks probably both marine and fluvial in origin. The Hanlon Subgroup may be entirely marine and lacks volcanic rocks (Blake et al., 1987).

Deformation and regional metamorphism took place between 1810-1750 Ma (Black, 1981). Folding was about NW trending axes while metamorphism to upper greenschist facies took place. Later intrusion of both the Arunta basement and the Hatches Creek Group by granitoids of the Barrow Creek Granitic Complex took place around 1660 Ma (Blake et al., 1987). Contact metamorphism and metasomatism are often observed.

Sedimentation associated with the Georgina Basin commenced during the Late Proterozoic with the Amesbury Quartzite and was terminated during the Early Devonian after deposition of the Dulcie Sandstone. The Georgina Basin sequence was mildly affected by the Carboniferous Alice Springs Orogeny.

A long erosional period followed with subsequent deep weathering during the Tertiary produced silcrete and ferricrete horizons. A veneer of Quaternary sands and soils overlays much of the area, except where recent and active alluvial sedimentation is present.

4.2 Local Geology Approximately 60% of the tenement is covered by Aeolian sand, which overlies areas of deep transported cover such as a coarse grained quartz rich sand over the Coomarie Granite to depths of over 20m.

Pisolitic gravels at surface are a good indicator of shallow transported cover, as are lithic gravels and quartz float. Pisolitic gravels comprise 25-30% of the tenement area. Quartz and lithic dominated gravels make up approximately 5% of the area.

The remainder consists of transported clays, sand, calcrete/silcrete and minor outcrop.

5. EXPLORATION DURING THE PERIOD 6 NOV 1998 to 24 MAY 2008

1998 to 1999

Regional soil sampling was conducted within the Black Dog, Corridor East, Blackhills South and Legend project areas. Results were low level and scattered with few coherent anomalies.

Extensive infill surface sampling programs were conducted at Black Dog North and Leningrad. Significant results from Leningrad included 4.7ppb Au, 2.1ppb Au and 1.9ppb Au.

Two RAB holes were drilled at Kudu for 120m. No significant results were returned from this program.

1999 to 2000

Surface samples were taken at Black Hills (916), Guam (934), Black Hills South (112), MLS 153 (1341) and Leningrad (180).

Posthole drilling was carried out at Legend (86 holes for 3356m), Tanami East (43 holes for 1220m) and Black Hills South (27 holes for 655m), where a high result of 190ppb Au was recorded.

RAB drilling at Guam consisted of 43 holes for 3136m during early 2000. Drilling targeted favourable geochemistry generated by the surface sampling earlier in the season. No significant results were returned.

An angled RAB drilling program at Black Dog comprised 16 holes for 649m. Ground conditions were very hard and not suited to RAB drilling. No significant results were achieved.

Three RAB fences were drilled at Pegasus-Reward during August and September as part of an exploration initiative on MLS 153. Fourteen holes were drilled for 1110m. Despite high expectations, this program failed to deliver significant intersections.

Drilling at Wolf on seven fences totalled 34 holes for 2466m. The program tested a 020 orientation to mineralisation. Results included 6m @ 5.5 g/t Au and 10m @ 1.75 g/t Au.

Page 6: N E W M O NT ASIA PACIFIC - geoscience.nt.gov.au · rocks west of Crawford Range and the Bullion Schist would be included in Division 2, and the Ledan Schist in Division 3 of the

3

Final Relinquishment Report for SEL 10187 for the Period 06/11/1998 to 24/05/2008 Australian Tenement Holdings Pty Ltd Newmont CR 33876

Seven RAB holes were drilled into an EM target at Jericho, 573m were drilled with no significant result.

Two fences of RAB drilling were completed at Carlsberg. Eight holes were drilled for 543m. No significant result was returned.

2000 to 2001

Work for the period concentrated on the use of the magnetic and gravity datasets, which were ‘wormed’ by Fractal Graphics in Perth. The resulting data was analysed in three dimensions with the accompanying Fracviewer software. The worming process was designed to generate targets within stratigraphic units with moderately to strongly contrasting internal magnetic signatures. Along with the examination of the wormed data historical geochemistry was also examined and compared to the worm targets.

Surface sampling was conducted on SEL10187 underlying MLS 167. The program was carried out over a coherent lag target 240m from the existing Carbine Pit. Seventy-one samples were taken in the Carbine North-West area in two sets: 200micron sieve and a lag fraction (-6mm/+1mm). Initially the lag samples were sent to ALS Laboratories for ZARG (Zeeman Aqua Regia Gold). These appeared contaminated, although it was uncertain, whether the fault lay with the samples or the Lab. Check assaying of a second batch indicated that the contamination had occurred in the field. Posthole drilling was required to test the anomaly accurately.

2001 to 2002

Seventeen RAB holes (BDRB0059-BDRB0075) were drilled in the Black Dog region of SEL10187. Results were not significant with a peak value of 3m @ 0.12ppm Au from 6m in hole BDRB0074. This intercept was associated with 4ppm As and surrounded by 3m @ 0.02ppm Au and 0.03ppm Au. The interval was also associated with a granite intrusion and massive quartz veining. BDRB0061 returned 3m @ 0.11ppm Au from 33m and is associated with siltstone.

2002 to 2003

Work concentrated on a review of available data, geology and magnetic signatures within SEL10187 for the planning of the 2004 field work.

2003 to 2004

Work comprised interpretation and mapping as part of a new structural interpretation of the Tanami Region by ‘RSG’ (Brett Davies) – this exercise was part of a major strategic review of the Tanami Region by Newmont Exploration.

2004 to 2005

The tenement was partly covered by a regional EM survey.

2006

A program of RAB holes was carried out over the tenement of 1888 holes for 11930m and 3225 samples.

2007

Exploration within SEL10187 focussed on the TAN018 target area. Geology of TAN018 is interpreted to be a sequence of Dead Bullock, Mt Charles and Killi Killi Formation wrapping around the margins of the Frankenia Dome. Antrim basalt is interpreted from magnetics to cover a large portion (-30%) of TAN018. Major northwest faults run parallel to stratigraphy with later west-northwest faults crosscutting.

2008

No exploration field work was carried out over the tenement.

A program of rehabilitation of all disturbed surface areas, such as drill holes and pads will be conducted.
