CDC Division of Emergency Operations: COVID-19 GIS Updates
Next: Tess Palmer for an overview of the GRASP Coronavirus Interactive Product.
What is CDC Coronavirus Interactive?A publicly available series of COVID-19 data dashboards from the CDC, including dynamically updated maps, charts, and tables.
What is the purpose of CDC Coronavirus Interactive?CDC has been reporting COVID-19 cases, testing and hospitalization data on its website and through reports and publications. However, with the launch of CDC Coronavirus Interactive, additional data sources are being reported and updated on a daily basis. The goal is to enable users to access important COVID-19 data in real-time.
What data will the public be able to explore in CDC Coronavirus Interactive? The site will include interactive visualizations of the COVID-19 outbreak at global and domestic scales, the development of the outbreak over time by state, characteristics of US COVID-19 patients, trends in ER visits, the social impacts of the pandemic in the US, and more. The first release focuses on US cases and deaths by state, social impacts of the outbreak, and school closures in the US.
When will CDC Coronavirus Interactive be available to the public? In order to make this site available to the public as quickly as possible, CDC Coronavirus Interactive will release in phases, including more and more data and functionality with each release. The first public release is this Friday, 4/17/2020.

CDC: Q: We'd like to use the CDC cases by county service in a public facing web app. Since this data is essentially already available to the public as part of the JHU
cases layer, are we allowed to share the CDC cases by county in a public facing web app? We already have access to the GeoHealth Portal and secure REST
services.
A: The case by county data is not public facing.
Q: What is CDC Coronavirus Interactive?
A: A publicly available series of COVID-19 data dashboards from the CDC, including dynamically updated maps, charts, and tables.

HHS
Q: Please elaborate on your predictive analysis tab.
A: The predictive tab is proposed to include models created by various entities (IHME, Columbia University, CDC, etc.) and allow the user to filter their
indicator of interest (cases, deaths, etc.) and their state. Static information on these models will be available on cdc.gov in the next few days and the
interactive version will be included in Coronavirus Interactive in 2-3 weeks.
Q: Will resurgence modeling take into account future loosening of social distancing requirements. Perhaps you can discuss?
A: Yes, the models will include the loosening of mitigation measures.
Q: Is there a site that compiles modeling results (links to) from different states? Site that shows expected CV19 cases per day/for a couple weeks into future?
A: The IHME models are presented in this way: https://covid19healthdata.org/united-states-of-america
Q: Will the data be available by race? And how can federal agencies encourage local public health departments to collect data on COVID by race?
A: The data we have on race is what we have received from the US Census. As far as capturing this data at the local level, we generally do not show
individually capture demographics.
You can view Demographic characteristics of COVID-19 cases in the United States, as of April 15, 2020, at 4pm ET (n=465,995)* here:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html
Q: I see in the deployed tab that ACS are tracked. What about USACE ACF sites? Can we see them?
A: We are working out how to integrate all of the federal ACS sites. Right now, we have many reporting areas and the data is needing quite a bit of
deconfliction in order to not double count sites.
Q&As Geospatial Call 3
Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) Q: Is MA tracking how many prisons have COVID19 Cases?
A: Yes, they are currently tracking prison cases, but it is not on the public-facing app.
Q: Are you all tracking EMS in Massachusetts (ambulance transport vs fire dept.)
A: Yes, we are tracking EMS data.
Q: Can you automate data input through a rest service instead of adding it manually?
A: We add items from an excel spreadsheet and it is easy to do quickly. We assume you could add it automatically, but we do not.
