This manual is for the network board (model name: N-32S/N-32W/N-324), providing how to use this product on a network.For using the network board, refer to the separate “N-32 Series User’s Manual”.

Uponpurchase(bydefault),thenetworkboard’sIPaddressandsubnetmaskarenotyetset.Whenfirstconnectingthenetworkboardtoanetworktouseit,usethesimplenetworksettingstosetthenetworkboard’sIPaddressonthenetworkfollowingtheprocedurebelow.

Notice• Whenmakingnetworksettings,followingtheinstructionsofthenetworkadministrator.• Itisnotpossibletoformatthecomputerstoragememoryfromthecomputer.• Donotpressoperationbuttonsonthenetworkboardwhilethecomputerstoragememoryisbeingaccessedfromthecom-puter.Doingsowillresultinincreasedtimeforresponsebetweenthecomputerandnetworkboard,andoperationsmaynotbepossible.

Turn on the network board’s power and connect the network board’s computer USB port for (type B) to the computer using a USB cable.• Thestandarddriver is installedautomaticallyand thenetworkboard is recognizedby thecomputerasa removabledevice.

Start up Explorer, and in this open the network board (removable device).Whenthisunit’sdevice(themodelnameisdisplayed)isdouble-clicked,thisunit’smemoryforcomputerstorageopens.

Use a program on the computer (Notepad, etc.) to open the “setting.ini” file in the “setup” folder.1 Double-clickthe“setup”foldertoopenit.2 Openthe“setting.ini” file (text format) located inthis folderusingNotepadoranotherprogramonthecomputeranddirectlyoverwritethecontentsofthesettingsfile.• Theonlycharactersthatcanbeinputarenumbersandperiods. Donotinsertanyspaces.Ifso,thefilewillbeidentifiedascorruptwhenthenetworkboardisstartedandtheset-tingswillberesettothedefaults.

If the network board’s top screen does not open• HaveyoumadeamistakeinputtingtheIPaddressthatwasset?• Isthenetworkboard’sLANterminalproperlyconnectedtoaLANportonthenetwork?• Whenusingaproxyserver,addthenetworkboard’sIPaddresstothe“Exceptions”intheproxy’ssettingstosetsothattheproxyisnotused.

IfDHCPissetto[Off],theproblemmaybecausedbythefollowing:• IstheIPaddressthatwassetbeingusedbyanotherdevice?• Ifmultipleunitsofthisnetworkboardareconnected,aretheyconnectedtothenetworkwiththesameIPaddress?• IstheIPaddressthatwassetwithintheautomaticacquisitionrangeoftheDHCPoftherouter,etc.?

Making Detailed Settings (via LAN)

Usethisproceduretomakethenetworkboarddevicesettings(“CBSetup”),networksettings,etc.,withthenetworkboardcon-nectedtoalocalareanetwork(hereafterreferredtoas“LAN”or“thenetwork”)usingacomputer’swebbrowser.

Accessauthorityisrequiredtomakethedetailedsettings.Registertheadministratorfollowing“AdministratorMenu–UserSettings”onpageE-20.

Notice• Whenconnectingthenetworkboardtothenetwork,besuretoconsultthenetworkadministratorbeforemakingtheset-tings.

Note• Dependingonthenetworkbeingused,thedisplayspeedandbuttonresponsemaybeslowandoperationsmaynotbeperformed. If thishappens,consult yournetworkadministrator.Also, thenetworkboardmaynot respond if buttonsareoperatedsuccessively.Inthiscase,waitawhilethenoperateagain.Ifthereisnoresponseafterawhile,turnoffthenetworkboard’spower,thenturnthepowerbackon.

• Ifthetopscreendoesnotdisplaywithawebbrowser,pressthe[Ctrl]+[F5]keystorefreshthewebbrowser’sscreen.• ThenetworkboardusesJavaScriptandcookies.Setthewebbrowsersothatthesefunctionswilloperate.• Thenetworkboardperformsautomaticpagereading(redirecting).Setthewebbrowsersothatthisfunctionwilloperate.• WithSSLenabledonHTTP,asecuritycertificatewarningisdisplayedwhenthiswebsiteisaccessedbytheWebbrowser.Inthiscase,select“Continuetothiswebsite(notrecommended)”tocontinueyouroperation.

Basic Setting OperationsHereweexplainhowtodisplayandclosethesettingsscreens,usingtheInternetExplorerwebbrowserasanexample.Preparations:1.UseaLANcabletoconnectthenetworkboard’sLANterminaltotheLANportontheswitchinghub.2.Turnonthenetworkboard’spower.

Launch the web browser on the computer con-nected to the network.“Pagecannotbedisplayed”mayinsomecasesappear,butsim-plycontinuetothenextstep.

Input the network board’s IP address.Inthewebbrowser’sURLfield,inputtheIPaddressthatwasset,and then press the [Enter] key. Entrymust be in alphanumericcharacters.When the network board has been correctly con-nectedtonetwork,theuserauthenticationscreenappears.InputtheUserNameandPassword,andthenclick[OK].• Nopassword issetuponpurchase. Input“admin” inalphanu-mericcharactersintheUserNamefieldandclick[OK].

Note• Theusernameandpasswordarecasesensitive.Besuretoinputthemproperly.

• The account is locked after three incorrect passwordattempts. To unlock, unplug the power cord from thepoweroutletthenplugitbackin.

Connecting the network board to the network upon pur-chaseUponpurchase,thenetworkboard’sIPaddressandsubnetmaskare not yet set.Be sure to check the section “SimpleNetworkSettings(viaUSB)”(seepageE-4)andsettheIPaddress,etc.
