BACKGROUNDSWIFT

SWIFT message standards may sometimes feel anything but standard. When setting up with a new bank, trying to work out what is required can be a real treasury pain-point. The MyStandards Readiness Portal is aimed at easing the on-boarding process.

The only problem with standards is that there are so many of them and as anyone fully engaged with SWIFT messaging may attest that managing standards can feel like a challenge in its own right when each bank seemingly has a different set of messaging requirements.

SWIFT acknowledged this difficulty three years ago with the introduction of its collaborative web platform

MyStandards.

MyStandards

MyStandards provides centralised standards-related content and powerful features for premium standards management and implementation

This is targeted at financial institutions, market infrastructures, market practice groups and corporates using the MT, MX and ISO 20022 message types.

INTRODUCTION

MyStandards

As mentioned above, this is a collaborative web based platform developed to better manage ISO messaging standards, market practices and enables customers to perform automatic comparisons between different usage guidelines.

This will greatly help in reducing time, cost, effort and the risk of error, finding standards-related information, keeping track of changes and enabling users to better manage standards definitions and usage.

The Readiness Portal provides the following functions:

Provides direct links to the documentation in MyStandards.

Offers sample messages for each usage guidelines.

Has an interactive validation service to check that message instances respect not only the base standard but also additional restrictions defined in the usage guideline

Allows users share test messages and analyse how much of the usage guidelines is covered by these messages.

Allows access to information online and to generate PDF reports and XML schemas.

NotePortal PublisherThe portal publisher is appointed by the MyStandards group owner and is responsible to manage the creation, sharing, and lifecycle of Readiness Portals for a group.Portal UserPortals can be shared by portal publishers with individual users. This is, for example, used by abank to provide their corporate customers with access to a portal. Portal users are therefore anyuser with whom a portal publisher has shared a portal.

GROUPS,SUB-GROUPS AND COMMUNITIESGroup

While all the users on MyStandards are individuals with their own account, the platform is licensed to organisations.

Subgroups

Under PASA we have four subgroups namely BankServAfrica,Strate ,SARB and SADC. Depending on your interest, you might join one or all of these sub-groups.

For all practical purposes, sub-groups work exactly like groups.

Community

A community is the way to specify who gets access to restricted content. It is effectively a list of users or groups.

There are two types of communities:

• Closed communities are only visible by their members. They are used for all bilateral sharing on the platform. The only way to join a closed community is to be added by a publisher directly in that community.

• Open communities are visible by everyone. This means that everyone can see that the community exists but would have to request membership to access the usage guidelines or the portals (the authorisation is granted by the publisher).

Why Join Communities

Communities are the mechanism used by MyStandards publishers to share their content (usage guidelines, portals, etc.). By joining a community, you gain access to the content shared by the group with that community.

Register to MyStandards

Registration

Registering on MyStandards is without cost and all PASA members can register by following the below steps:

1. Login through the link https://www2.swift.com/myswift/ and click ‘’Create Account” –Refer to the arrow on the first picture. Note: If you already have a SWIFT.com user ID and password, proceed to step 4.

2. After clicking Create Account it will take you to the second picture were you need to create your profile (use your work email address).

3. Once you’ve captured all the required information and followed the necessary security checks you will get a notification via email.

Joining the PASA Group

1. After clicking on MyStandards, you must click on my profile

2. Request membership

3. The below picture will appear then search for PASA and click on request membership.

4. Once you have successfully requested for your membership, a PASA designated administrator will accept the request within 24hours.

How to access the PASA Group

5. Once you have been granted access, you need login again on MyStandards:

5.1 Go back to slide 7 and begin at step 4 - 6

5.2 After clicking on MyStandards, you click on Groups and the below will appear.

6. Click on the PASA logo.

The below screen will appear which will show PASA’s sub-groups namely:

*BankservAfrica

*SADC

*SARB

*Strate

Note that being a member of the PASA group will not grant you access to its sub-groups. Access must be requested to be added to the sub-groups.

The same process followed above (request to PASA group) also applies for the sub-groups.

Usage of MyStandards

Exporting the Usage Guidelines

Once you have been added to the Group or Community, you will have access to the Usage Guidelines uploaded (on condition that its not restricted) which you can export/download in UGE, PDF and Excel Format following the below steps:

1. Go to the Community/ Group where you would like to download the Usage Guideline.

2. Choose the collection you would like to download the message from

3. Click on the message then go to Export and you will see 3 options pointed on the picture

4. Once the message is done downloading, you click on it then it will be saved to your downloads.

Exporting the Usage Guidelines

Participates will no longer send comment(s) via email regarding an error they have came across or a change to be added. All comments must be forwarded via MyStandards which will be visible to all community members.

To add a comment on MyStandards you need to follow the below steps:

• Go to the message (e.g. Pacs.010) and open –you can’t give an overall comment, it has to be specific to an element/ field on a message.

• Click on the element/ field you would like to comment on

• Then on your far bottom right (see picture), that’s where you add your comment(s), relating to that one field.
