Marriage is a sacred bond which createsthe relationship as wife and husbandbetween two different sexes. Marriagesare made in heaven. Is it true? Of course,to some extent. It is the destiny that actsbetween the wife and husband to livelong together with happiness orunhappiness. Sometimes, the wedlockbreaks at the initial stage or after someyears. In some cases the individuals livewithout marriage at all. What are thefactors responsible for all these features?The individual horoscopes will revealtheir. The astrologer can indicate in away, what will take place in future, butwhat else, except the Almighty can saywith certainty what will definitely happen.

Now let us discuss briefly some pointsastrologically on marriage in theHoroscope of individuals. The planetVenus, who is karaka for marriage; the7th, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and the 8thlords areresponsible for marriage life. Besidesthis, the placement of other planets andthe aspects of the planets to the abovehouses are to be studied.

Marriages may be early, late or denial.Early marriage is possible in the followingcases:

1. The 7th lord should be in Kendraor trikona with the constellation ofbenefic planets.

2. The 7th house should be aspectedby benefic planets and nopapakartari yoga is present.

3. Venus should be well placed inKendra and trikona in the star ofbenefic planet. Venus should notbe in the company of maleficplanets.

4. Lagna lord should be strong oraspected to the 7th house.

5. The placement of benefic planetsin the 7th house.

6. The 2nd house should be free fromaffliction and with benefic rays.

7. The 4th, for happiness, 5th forchildren, and 12th for bedcomforts. So the lords of thesehouses should be free fromafflictions.

The late marriages may take place wherethere is slight malefic influence to the 7th

house, 7th lord and Venus besides havingbenefic influences to the above whichoverride malefic influences.

Denial of marriage is possible wherethere is strong malefic influence to the 7th

house, 7th lord, Venus, 2nd house, and2nd lord.

Break in wedlock is possible even thoughthere are benefic positions for marriage,the malefic influences prevail more andoverride the benefic influences. Thisleads to divorce or death of the partner.We cannot elaborate unless theindividual horoscopes are being studiedelaborately and decide the result.

The 8th house denotes longevity of thenatives. In the case of femalehoroscopes, if there are benefics in the8th house or aspected by the beneficplanets to the 8th house would confersoubhagyam which means the wife

predeceases her husband. Reverse isthe case for opposite results.

Mars Dosha: This is an important aspectto be considered while deciding themarital prospects. Mars dosha occurswhere Mars is placed in the 2nd or 4th, or7th, or 8th, or 12th houses fromascendant or Moon, or Venus. Whilematching the horoscopes of the male andfemale, if one of them is having Marsdosha marriage should not be performed.If both are having Mars dosha, marriagecan be performed according to thestrength of the same. There are someexceptions to the rule and the same arestated below.

Different classic texts stated differentexceptions and sometimes contradicteach other. After analyzing manyhoroscopes the following are to beconsidered while matching horoscopes.

1. If there is any conjunction with oraspected by Jupiter, or beneficMercury or waxing Moon to theMars.

2. For Cancer and Leo ascendantsthere is not Mars dosha.

3. For Aries and Scorpio lagnas 4th

Mars, for Taurus and Libra lagnas12th Mars, for Gemini and Virgolagnas 2nd Mars, for Capricornand Cancer lagnas 7th Mars, forSagittarius and Pisces lagna 8th

Mars, for Aquarius and leo lagnasno dosha wherever Mars issituated.

4. There is a saying that for Aries,Cancer, Leo, Scorpio,Saggittarius, and Pisces lagnas nomars dosha.

5. When Mars is in movable sign, noMars dosha exists.

There are controversial astrologicalworks between Jataka Chandrika,Naradeeyam, and Kalidasa. Further, nomention about Mars dosha has beengiven in any standard works of ancientorigin like Parsara Hora, Phaladeepika,Brihat jataka, Jataka Parijatha,Jatakalankara, Satya Charya’s, PanchaSiddhanta etc. Hence too muchemphasis need not be given to Marsdosha. It is the astrologer who has to godeep into the strength of other planetsbesides the position of Mars in thehoroscope and judge the influence ofMars on the individual.

Mars and Saturn: The planets Mars andSaturn are enemies. These two planetscreate havoc in respect of married life.The combination of Mars and Saturn inany house is undesirable especially inthe houses of lagna, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and12th houses. It is also undesirable tohave Mars and Saturn in angles to eachother. Their aspect to each other alsocreates unhappiness in married life. Inthe above cases, where if unsulliedbenefics like Jupiter, Venus, and waxingMoon are in conjunction with Mars andSaturn or aspect to Mars and Saturn willmitigate the bad effects to some extent.

Besides the above, the 7th lord shouldnot be in the evil houses of 3rd, 6th, 8th,and 12th. Venus should also be free fromaffliction. Mars and Venus combination isbad for marital happiness since Mars isfiery planet and Venus is watery planet.Both are enemies, they create over sexand separation if they are not associatedwith benefic planets. For informationsake, we furnish here under the beneficand malefic planets.

Benefic Planets: Jupiter, Venus, waxingMoon, unsullied Mercury, and functional

benefics.

Malefic Planets: Sun, Mars, Saturn,Rahu, Kethu, waning Moon, andfunctional malefics. Besides this, theplanets who own bad houses like 3rd, 6th,8th, and 12th.

Further it is desirable to have conjunctionof 7th lord with karaka Venus in anyhouse. But please note that in the case ofTaurus and Libra langnas the 7th lord isMars and his association with Venus isnot bad as he happens to be the lagnalord. Rahu in the 7th house creates deathor divorce to the spouse unless he is inthe star of benefic planet or inconjunction with benefic planets oraspected by benefic planets. Secondmarriage should be predicted only ifkaraka Venus is not strong and wellplaced in the horoscope with beneficplanets company or aspect.

Finally, matching of horoscope of boyand girl is very important beforeproceeding for marriage.
