The interior of WRX STI is the result of the designers’ astute observation of how the driver and passengers interact with the car. As a result, nothing is superfluous and there’s a lightness that comes from knowing every instrument has a vital role to perform. Consistent across the Subaru WRX STI range is the famous Subaru Boxer engine that has been designed to sit lower and flatter in the engine bay than upright engines. Due to this unique design it delivers less noise and vibration to the cabin, while the lowered centre of gravity improves stability, cornering and traction with the road. Coupled with the Subaru WRX STI’s symmetrical drivetrain, this configuration delivers superior handling confidence, better balance, smoothness and ultimately, outstanding driver enjoyment. The intelligent drive systems incorporated into the new Subaru WRX STI include the Active Torque Vectoring system which supplements the AWD system, making handling more precise and allowing for

improved cornering speeds. In addition, Multi-mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) ensures the WRX STI is a true high-performance vehicle.

The Subaru WRX STI engine has also been finely tuned to deliver optimum power, torque, exhaust emissions, fuel economy and idling stability via Subaru’s Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) which varies the inlet and exhaust camshaft timing. This helps the Subaru WRX STI produce an astonishing 221kW of power at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 407Nm at 4,000rpm, providing thrilling sports performance and drivability. Contrary to its motorsports heritage, WRX STI comprises equal measures of both power and restraint. Driven by a 2.5-litre turbocharged horizontally-opposed Boxer engine, WRX STI delivers maximum performance when you want it. But its superior power, is tempered by superior control. The advanced Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD), which is at the heart of Subaru, is partnered with WRX STI’s cutting edge Active Torque Vectoring system to enhance cornering by applying braking force where required to keep you on line.
