MY ROLE MODEL
By Joshua Loveday
For homework we had to
interview a role model
So I chose
Dan Carter
Why he is my role modelDan carter is my role model and has been for a long time because he has influenced me throughout his rugby career playing my hopeful All Black position at number 10
These are the questions I asked him and his answers
Reflecting on your injury how did you cope?
It was difficult at first but the support I received from the team, the management staff and my family helped a lot.
Was it hard to stay positive throughout the RWC knowing you were out from injury?
It’s always tough being on the side-line with an injury and I guess even more so when it’s the Rugby World Cup. At times it was frustrating but it seemed to be a lot easier when I was with the team and the management staff. I was really keen to remain positive for the team and encourage them to stay focussed. My role changed a lot!
Who was your rugby inspiration when you were a boyMy father
What is a message that you would give to young rugby players like me?
Never give up on
your dreams. Be passionate about
what you want to
achieve and work
hard to get there.
Have you ever considered giving up or stop playing rugby
No… It can be tough when you’re injured but to be honest, that just makes me even more determined to get back out on the field.
What is the biggest risk or jump you have taken in life?
The biggest risk or
jump has to involve
being pushed out
of your comfort zone and for me that was when I moved to France to
play rugby in 2009
