    effets of the fatory system. $hese measures enable the employee and his familyto lead a good life. %elfare failities like housing! medial and hildrens

    eduation! rereation! et. help to improve the family life of employees. 6or the

    employer! welfare measures lead to high morale and produtivity of labor.

    Employee welfare is also in the interest of the larger soiety beause the health!

    happiness and effiieny of eah individual represent the general well-being of

    all. %ell-housed! well-fed and well-looked after! labour is not only an asset to the

    employer but serves to raise the standards of industry and labour in the ountry.

    1. CENTRAL GOVERNMENT:  $he entral government has made elaborate

     provisions for the health! safety and welfare of workers under the fatories

    at! 194! and mines at! 192. $hese ats provide for anteens! r:hes!

    shelters! rest rooms! lunh rooms! washing failities et. $hey also regulate

    the age of employment! hours of work and make provision for the

    appointment of labour welfare offiers. $he government has also halked out

    omprehensive programmes for housing failities! soial seurity sheme!

     provident fund! hild are! rereation and suh other failities.

    2. STATE GOVERNMENTS: (overnments in different states and union

    territories provide welfare failities to workers. ;any of them run heath and

    family planning entres! entres for eduation! voational guidane! rereation

    and training of workers! and other welfare entres.

    +. EMPLOYERS: =ntil reently! employers in &ndia did little for the welfare

    of workers barring a few exeptions. “$he employers in general looked upon

    welfare work as fruitless and barren through some of them indeed had done

     pioneering work.” >ut the situation has onsiderably improved sine then.

    $hey take interest in welfare work both voluntary and under statutory

     provisions. $here is by and large and inreasing reognition of the importane

    of labour welfare work among the employers. ?ow aver! some employers use

    welfare failities win over there workers from the influene of their trade

    unions.
