Educational TechnologyIntroduction

Educational Technology is a complex, integrated process involving people,

procedures, ideas devices and organization for analyzing problems and devising, implementing, evaluating and managing solutions to those problems

involved in all aspects of human learning.

Educational

Technology

It is field involved in applying a complex integrated process

to analyze and solve problems in human

learning

It consists of the designs and

environments that engage

learners..and reliable techniques

or method for engaging learning such as cognitive

learning strategies and critical

thinking skills.

It is a theory about how problems in

human learning are identified and solved. It has an integrated set of principles that

explain and predict observed

events.

It is a field study which is

concerned with the practice of

using educational methods and

resources for the ultimate goal of facilitating the

learning process.

It is a profession like teaching. It is

made up of organized effort

to implement the theory intellectual

techniqueand practical application of educational technology.

Learnings in Educational Technology 1

4 Positive Impacts of Technology To Students

• Supplemental Teaching ToolsNot only can tablets, apps, video and interactive whiteboards be learning tools for students, but they can be additional teaching tools for educators. Interactive presentation tools, video clips, graphics and other audio visual elements are a simple way to keep students actively engaged in lessons, as well as a means to keep your lessons fresh.

• Motivate Students to LearnMany students are more stimulated and are apt to learn when they can interact with hands-on learning tools, which various forms of educational technology provide. Technology in the classroom allows students to take greater control of their education because tools like tablets and laptops encourage interactive, hands-on learning.

Page 9: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

• Students Can Learn at Their Own PaceIt’s simple; no child is the same. Every student learns at

his or her own pace. There are many ways that integrating technology into the classroom can help students learn at a rate that is comfortable to them, and that allows them to retain information. For example, in-classroom lessons or activities on laptops or tablets allow students to read directions, process information and complete work at their own pace. This also helps free up the teacher’s time so they can give students who may need extra guidance or assistance the attention they require.• Additional Resources for Students

Educational apps, search engines, videos, portable technologies and interactive activities provide students with a nearly endless supply of information and resources.

Technology: Boon or Bane?Technology is a blessing for man. With technology, there is a lot that we can do which we could not do then. With cellular phones, webcam, you will be closer to someone miles and miles away. However, when not used properly, technology becomes a detriment to learning and development.

Page 11: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

Technology: Boon or Bane?

Technology is Boon Technology is Bane1. Makes us well-

informed.2. We can communicate

our loved ones around the globe.

3. Makes our works easier and faster.

4. Pleasure and enjoyment.

5. Enhance our skills in communication.

1. Destroys the relationship between family members.

2. Students cannot focus on their studies.

3. Very dependent on technology.

4. Lead us to severe illnesses.

5. Children become more liberated.

THE ROLES of EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY in LEARNING

Traditional Wayi.e. as delivery vehicles for

instructional lessonsConstructivist Way

i.e. as partner in the learning process

Page 13: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

TRADITIONAL WAY

• The learner learns from the technology and the technology serves as a TEACHER.

• Technology serves as source and presenter of knowledge.

• It is assumed that “knowledge is embedded in the technology and the technology presents that knowledge to a student.”

• Technology like computers is seen as productivity tool.

Page 14: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

CONSTRUCTIVIST WAY

• Technology serves as a PARTNER IN LEARNING.

• Educational technology serves as learning tools to learn with.

• It engages learners in active, constructive, intentional, authentic and cooperative leaning.

• It provides opportunities for technology and learner interaction for meaningful learning.

Page 15: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

ROLES of TECHNOLOGY in LEARNING

1. Technology as tools to support knowledge construction. For representing learner’s ideas, understanding, and beliefs.

For producing organized, multimedia knowledge bases by learners.

Page 16: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

2. Technology as information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by-constructing

For accessing needed information and comparing perspectives, beliefs and world views.

Page 17: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

3. Technology as context to support learning-by-doing

For representing and simulating meaningful real-world problems, situations and contexts and representing beliefs, perspectives, arguments and stories of others.

Page 18: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

4. Technology as a social medium to support learning by conversing

For collaborating with others and discussing, arguing and building consensus among members of a community.

Page 19: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

5. Technology as intellectual partner to support learning-by-reflecting

For helping what learners to articulate and represent what they know and reflecting on what they have learned and how they came to know it.

For constructing personal representations of meaning.

Page 20: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

When used effectively, research indicates that technology:

1. augments motivation to learn;2. encourages collaborative learning;3. supports the development of critical

thinking skills; and4. supports the development of problem

solving skills

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY if it is not:

a. Not a collection of machineshow to use the machine

b. Not a productbecause it involves the process

c. Not a softwarebut also a hardware that can be used or

utilizedd. Not about learning how to use hardware or

softwarebut how to apply

Page 22: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

Educational Technology 1

a. Awarein the modern and traditional educational media

b. Appreciatethinking about the value of the modern and traditional educational media

c. Equippedwith knowledge and the skills

d. Historyknowing how an educational technology started

e. Roles of ET in 21st millenniumtechnological partner, enhance output dangers which technology brings to societies

f. Application of technology to instructionsetting of learning objectives

Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience

Dale’s Cone of Experience is a model that incorporates several theories related to instructional design and learning processes. During the 1960s, Edgar Dale theorized that learners retain more information by what they “do” as opposed to what is “heard”, “read” or “observed

CONCEPTUAL MODEL OF LEARNING

CONSTRUCTIVISM

GENERATIVE LEARNING

DISCOVERY LEARNING

MEANINGFUL LEARNING

Page 27: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

Meaningful Learning

Meaningful learning refers to the concept that the learned knowledge (lets say a fact) is fully understood by the individual and that the individual knows how that specific fact relates to other stored facts (stored in your brain that is).

Page 28: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

Discovery LearningDiscovery learning is a technique of inquiry-based learning and is considered a constructivist based approach to education. It is supported by the work of learning theorists and psychologists Jean Piaget, Jerome Bruner, and Seymour Papert.

Page 29: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

Generative Learning

Generative learning is a theory that involves the active integration of new ideas with the learner's existing schemata. The main idea of generative learning is that, in order to learn with understanding, a learner has to construct meaning actively.

Page 30: My portfolio in educational technologyangelbajo

Constructivism is a learning theory found in psychology which explains how people might acquire knowledge and learn. It therefore has direct application to education. The theory suggests that humans construct knowledge and meaning from their experiences.

Learning Through Ed Tech 1 and 2

In this lesson we are being aware the importance of computer to our learning and to our life. It helps us to be computer literate. Teachers also become an effective teacher were he/she teaches us effectively.

After taking this subject EdTech

1 and 2, it gives me a better

understanding on how

technology will be a part of our

education most especially in this modern times.
