Architecture is but a brief glimpse into a magnificent dream.
HI! MY NAME IS PAT. I am passionate about the little things that make up the details of the bigger things. I also enjoy bicycles, longboards, cameras, lovely wooden things and making art. Inside this portfolio are a number of things which I have lost many night’s worth of sleep over.

PROJECT
MURCUTT STUDIO LIFE ON MARS, South West Rocks
Life on Mars explored the possibilities of public communal spaces and paths situ-ated on an undulating landscape at South West Rocks. Public and private spaces have been designed as floating containers that are sensitive to both the acitivites that happen inside them and the beautiful vegetation which surrounds it. Place-ment of brief requirements (lap pool, change room & toilet block, care taker home, amphitheatre and cafe) was informed by the strong presence of sand dunes, dense vegetation as well as year 2100 sea level projections. Particular emphasis was also placed on sustainability, off grid power and having minimal impact on the site with the subtle placement of water tanks, an enviro-cy-cle system and water turbines.
Communal spaces throughout the site were interconnected through the use of elevated timber walks which oscillated in and out of the landscape.

PROJECT
THIRD YEAR STUDIO: BLOCKS ON ROCKS, North Bondi
Blocks on Rocks was a project which explored medium residential apartment design within in an urban landscape with signifcant level changes due to its unique headland properties. The proposed design consisted of a single mass of three storey residential apartments that sat over a ground level public orientated night time music venue/ bar. Particular focus was also placed onto the planning of a diverse number of studio, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments to cater for the wider demographic of both international and local residents.

PROJECT
SECOND YEAR: THE WHITELEY EXPERIMENT, Balls Head Reserve
The Whiteley Experiment explored an experimental art centre located in Balls Head. The main driving concept for the project was the idea of the “old and the new” where subtle additions of concrete formwork was used to both contrast and compliment existing old heritage structures that were currently present on site. The minimalist approach to site was one of which intended to leave much of the beauty of the reserve untouched but at the same time enough to make a state-ment about the presence of art and its ability to question the status quo.
The addition of elevated concrete walkways which both wrapped around the site and appeared overhead onto the coal loader as well as incisions into old build-ings with dynamic geometric forms were intended to create an appropriate aes-thetic appeal to visitors. Issues of circulation and disabled access entry were also addressed within the scheme.

MODELS
MAISON A BORDEAUX,Rem Koolhaas
Exploring what has been done can often give inspiration and ideas for what hasn’t been done.

MODELS
LE FLOAT, Woolloomooloo
Le Float was a second year project inspired by the precedent study of Maison a Bordeaux. Specifically Koolhaas’ idea of ‘lift’ in order to heighten the drama of a levitating mass which sat on top of a hill, was thoroughly explored within the con-text of Woolloomooloo. The brief of having two residential homes, an office and a gallery space were also thought about in respect to Sou Fujimoto’s concepts of a “nest” (spaces which are formed specifically for human habitation) and a “cave” ( natural spaces which are appropriated to accomomdate for human habitation).

HOUSE OF BAKER, Woolloomooloo
House of Baker was a first year project situated in Woolloomooloo. The brief was to design a bakery which doubled as a cafe within the context of an urban, residential area.
