Publication Pattern, Genre, Cover Price

• Publication pattern: The magazine will be published monthly so that it does not come out too often so there isn’t much new information. It also means that it can be printed on higher quality paper so that my readers are getting a higher quality product that they can enjoy reading with lots of new information, articles, tour dates and festival information.

• Genre: The magazine genre is going to be pop and R&B music as within the audience research found most of the people that will read the magazine prefer pop and R&B music compared to other genres of music.

• Cover Price: the magazine will cost £4.50 for my magazine as it is only published once a month and therefore the target audience will be able to afford this price and consider it reasonable to pay just once a month for a magazine that is high quality on content and material.

Style, Attitude.

• Style: The magazine will be quite casual so that it’s readers can relate to it a lot more than a magazine that is formal. It will include informal language and there will be an equal balance between photos, tour dates and articles. It will not have too much writing as then the readers may get bored of just reading articles.

• Attitudes: The magazine will have quite feminine views as a large proportion of it’s readership will be female. It will also include a lot of male artists and top tips from female artists to cater for this. The magazine will have a positive attitude to the pop/ R&B genre and will encourage it’s readership to be more involved and interested in it.

Mission Statement

• Nu Sound educates its readers to a wider world of modern music. Within its range of articles and exclusive backstage information it shows its readership the celebrity world of pop. Its readers can enjoy 30 pages a month of inspiring and eye opening information and interviews that will broaden their horizons and attitude towards the music world.

Competitions, regulars, advertising and giveaways

• The magazine will include regular competitions in each issue that will give away prizes such as concert tickets and band/artist merchandise.

• Any advertising within the magazine will be relevant to the pop/ R&B genre such as tour dates for artists, festival information and dates , ticket websites that sell tickets to see concerts and also places that sell band/artist merchandise. Some advertising will fit in with the magazines main readership of females by sometimes advertising beauty products or clothing.

• Regular sections of the magazine will include a double page spread poster and also tour dates and festival dates. Other regular segments will include things like a comment with the editor of the magazine and a top 10 list of the charts.

• The magazine will occasionally come with giveaways such as a charity wristband or artist/band merchandise such as posters and t-shirts that the reader will have to send off to be delivered as they will not be attached to the magazine so not to ruin its image or quality.

Images

The main images within the magazine will generally be a close-up image of the artist or band the article is talking about. For example:

The main image on the front cover of that magazine will be a medium close up of the artist/band that features within the main interview/article within the magazine for example:

Dummie Double Page Spread

Photography Planning- Front CoverShot: Medium Close UpI have chosen this shot as it is the common cover shot for most magazines, also it is not a close up so it is not too intense for the reader but still gets a close up view of the artist.

Angle: Eye-LevelAn eye-level shot will make the reader intrigued by the artist as they can look directly into their eyes and connect with them.

Shot: Long ShotA long shot for the double page spread would be good as you can get a feel for the full artist.Angle: Low angleA low angle shot because it insinuates the artist is of higher status and bigger than the reader.
