“Can I have a lellalade, please”… I think you mean lemonade, right?
“It’s my burstday today” ~ in other words, birthday
“Where is blanki, Granma?” Do you mean blanket? “Yes, my blanki”
It can be difficult to remember and cherish each and every moment you and your grandchild spend together; all of the memories created and the various milestones reached. But life is busy and crazy and full of well…LIFE!
As time moves on and your grandchild grows, the number of memories and moments also grow. The volume of “moments” that any one person has to remember in a lifetime is immeasurable, especially for those of us luck enough to be grandparents. And, this is where this journal starts.
It seems that as I acquire a new bit of information, an occasion, a memory, an item on my to-do list, something else has to “fall out” of my already over-crowded brain. I am terrified that since I cannot choose which item or items may be lost, it will be something really important like those cute little things they used
Introduction
Introduction to say, or his first word, the date of her first step, or a picture in my mind’s eye of that game winning goal.
So, I write it down. I write all of it down.
“I have a project for school. Did I say any silly phrases to you when I was first learning to talk?”
“How old was I when I said my first word? What was it?”
Wait! Let me go look at my Journal of Quotes and ‘All Things Adorable’ that I have created especially for you, my grandchild!
Did you know that when you were little you said, “Your hair looks like straw” and “Why does your face have so many lines?”. Do you remember asking me the constant question “WHY?” and continued to ask until I explained every last detail?
I may not remember each and every one of these wonderful statements but my heart certainly melts when I look back in my journal at all of your amazing quotes and innocent proclamations. I am so thankful that I decided to capture these moments in time, forever encapsulated, to share with you and your children.
