Garden of Montemarte

• Title: Garden of Montemarte• Artist: Santiago Rusinol• Date:1890-1891• Era: Victorian

Why I like It

• I like this painting because it shows a lot of detail of the garden. It shows the garbage on the side, and it shows the trees leaves in detail. I also like the background. The background shows buildings so you see that the garden is in a populated place. In the middle of the picture there is something sticking up from the bottom and you have to look hard to figure out what it is. The fence symbolizes that not just anybody or anything can enter the garden without opening the fence door.

The View of Toledo

• Title: The View of Toledo• Artist: El Greco• Date: 1596-1600• Genre: Landscape Art• Media: Oil Paint• Dimensions:48cm x 43 cm

Why I like It

• I like this picture because it shows a storm coming over a beautiful city and maybe destroying the city. The picture has exquisite detail to small features like buildings on the bridge or just the buildings in general. Also, this city portrays a very strong city. The city has fresh water in that stream and it is located on a hill which is ideal. Also the buildings look well kept. In the background you see a mountain with a few buildings. That may be a city that is doing bad and is contrasting with Toledo. This city to me captures a very great city with beautiful scenery.

Frozen Assets

• Title: Frozen Assets

• Date: 1931

• Artist: Diego Rivera

• Era: Great Depression/ Modern

Why I like It

• I like this photo because it shows layers like New York has which is in the background. Just as it’s skyscrapers, New York has a underground level too. Also the picture could be interpreted to show that just like the people down low of the building are hiding money, the guy upstairs can be hiding bodies. Also right behind the building is a subway which is the main way to travel in New York.
