BackgroundOver 15 years ago a group of local parents of children with disability had a vision; a life where their
children could mature as adults living in their own homes as part of the community, where they could
truly have “a lifestyle of choice and opportunity”. Midwest Community Living was formed as an
organisation to bring that vision to life.
MWLCA is a Geraldton based not for profit organisation, led by a board of local people who are
passionate about the community and the people who we support. Midwest Community Living provide
a range of supports for people with disability so they can live in their own homes with the back up and
support of a local organisation. We currently manage 19 houses through the Community Disability
Housing Program (CDHP), and support many people with disability in the Midwest to live a lifestyle of
choice and opportunity.
We are experienced in working alongside people with disability as well as supporting families who
care for a person with disability. We have dedicated coordinators to assist in meeting the needs of
individuals or assisting others in planning support for the person they care for.
Our mission is to enrich the lives of people with disability and their families by supporting choices and
creating opportunities to live as part of the community.
We have a personal touch – our door is always open. We love what we do. We listen to our
community. Our local governance and management allows us to be more responsive to the needs of
clients. We offer services 24 hours a day 7 days a week and cater for all ages – children to adults.
We have a diverse team of support workers who are passionate about offering quality services to
people with disability and their families.
One size doesn’t fit all! At MWCLA we get to know our clients, ask about their likes / dislikes and
support them to live the lifestyle that they choose.
