The Great Mosque of Cordoba, La Mezquita

The Mezquita went through many changes:

First, it was a church (The building was begun in approximately 600 AD)

Than, it became a Mosque (starting in 784 AD)

After that, it became a Cathedral, still has the Mosque traits however. (In 1236, Córdoba was recaptured from the Muslim army by King Ferdinand III of Castile and the mosque was converted into a Christian cathedral.)

The dome of the rock is in Jerusalem, made in 619 AD

The diameter of the Dome is the same as the circumference. Everything is measured by the stone inside. According to Muslim faith, the stone inside is where Muhammad rose to Heaven, by the Angel Gabriel

The colors had meaning, white meant earth (it was near the bottom) and Blue meant sky/heaven (which was painted higher).

This was a place for religious education, Court, and Place of Prayer. The exterior walls measured 328x517 feet.

The spread of the Mosques

The Islamic belief had spread to places far and wide, for example, Xian China.

The belief system stayed mainly intact, but some things were altered, the Great Mosque of Xi'an is completely Chinese in its construction and architectural style, except for some Arabic lettering and decorations, for the mosque has neither domes nor traditional-style minarets.
