WELCOME TO THE TASMANIAN YOUTH ORCHESTRA!We’re all about supporting young Tasmanian musicians to realise their potential, both on and off the stage.
We warmly welcome anyone who would like to get involved in our ensembles. Our program caters to those who have been learning their instrument for only 6 months, up to those on the cusp of a professional career. There’s something for musicians of all levels, aged 7 to 26.
Find the perfect group for you – choose from orchestras, choirs, and string, wind and percussion groups. Rehearse weekly in the company of new friends, supported by expert conductors and tutors.
A very special announcement for 2018 is the addition of choirs to our program. We are very excited to be working with Tasmanian Youth Chorale and their expert choir directors, Andrew Bainbridge and Estelle Levy as we welcome them to the team.
Being part of an ensemble is like nothing else. It’s a living, breathing, excitement-generating machine. It’s team sport for musicians. It’s a society of like-minded individuals, working together to achieve a goal of utter beauty. If you’re yet to experience it, don’t miss out!
We look forward to hearing from you.

FIND ME AN ENSEMBLE
Each ensemble has catered entry points to ensure musicians are being supported in their development. We start the year on moderately easy pieces and work our way to the harder ones as the year, and players, progress. Great care is taken to find varied repertoire that is fun, instructive and musically satisfying. Which ensemble will you apply for?
