How much money would you spend on a music magazine

From my chart people prefer to spend under a pound, but don’t mind spending more. I think people prefer to get a good value for their money.

How many pages?

32% people would read a 1 to100 page magazine, which surprised me, as I thought people would want more content, only 11% wanted 1 to 120, and 5% wanted 1 to 160.

Front covers attract readers to most, as they make quick decisions when in a rush. Then it’s the contents, when they have enough time to look through, and the last attraction is a free CD.

Do you buy specialist magazines

21% said yes, while 79% said no. I though more would say yes, as I couldn’t imagine some one reading smash hits would read kerrang, or Q and NME.

Page 8: Music Survey Results

Do you only buy a magazine for it’s brand name

17% Percent said they do buy magazines for the brand name, but 83% said that they don’t. This might be because people get the illusion that they are being guaranteed a better value for the price, when they buy a magazine with a famous brand.

Page 9: Music Survey Results

Do you go to Festivals and gigs regularly

53% said yes and 47% said no, almost 50% each, so I will include festivals and gigs articles and reviews in my magazine, but not have dominating the magazine.

Physical or downloaded music

Almost Half of my results show that people still favour physical music (38%), to downloaded music. However, the majority of people (62%) are downloading. I will give away free CDs with my magazine as well as free downloads to attract both types.

no

58% of people don’t download music illegally, but 42% percent do. I will include free downloads in my magazine, tips of good websites to download off, and Programs you can legally download which allow you to record sound off broadcasting websites e.g.youtube.
