Sarah BarrettSarah took up the horn at an early age having always had a passion for brass instruments. She studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music completing a Bachelor of Music Performance in 1998.
Jeffrey KongJeffrey began teaching at Brighton in 1976. In 1980 he went to the US to study Chamber Music and Vocal Accompanying with Gwendolyn Koldofsky at the University of Southern California. In the later part of the same year he returned to Australia and worked as a vocal coach and repetiteur at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Opera School.
He returned to Adelaide and recommenced teaching at Brighton in 1981. In 1995 Jeffrey was appointed as Music Coordinator until 2005when he became Head of Music.
As Head of Music he initiated a number of world tours taking a concert band and choirs to China and Europe in 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
He left Brighton in 2015 and continues to work with the Department for Education and Child Development.
Sarah currently holds the position of associate principal horn in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held since 2000. In 2002 she undertook an exchange playing for a year in the Sinfonie Orchester St Gallen in Switzerland. She has also performed with most of the Australian symphony orchestras.
As well as orchestral playing, Sarah has played recitals and appeared as soloist many times including as a featured artist at the International Horn Symposium in Brisbane. Sarah enjoys playing chamber music in various combinations, and has a busy teaching schedule.
