Cuoc song van tuoi dep (Life is beautiful), a night of music, will be held on January 3 in Ho Chi Minh City to honor the courage and power of handicapped people.Organized by East Meets West, a US-based nonprofit foundation, and online music website Nhacvietplus.com.vn of the VNNPlus Media Company, the concert is a charity function in which all proceeds will be used for the benefit of handicapped people in Vietnam.Part of the money raised will be spent on buying gifts for Agent Orange victims in Ho Chi Minh City for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival and the rest will be sent to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and the central province of Quang Tri for providing needy people with vocational training or facilitating participation in sportingactivities.Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, program development director for East Meets West, said Vietnam has around 5.3 million handicapped people.Each one of them lives with big dreams and great courage. Society should support them to lead a normal and easy life. We hope that the music show will help handicapped people in Vietnam do the best they can to overcome their difficulties, she said.The music show, set to begin 8 p.m. at Nam Quang Bar, will feature performances of 15 Vietnamese singers and performers, two of whom are handicapped.Tickets for the show are available for VND400,000 to VND1 million (US$19.2 to $48) at Nam Quang Bar, 147 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, District 3, HCMC.
