MUSIC MAGAZINE GENRES

For every different genre the magazine cover is designed somewhat differently, this is because the target audience is different for each genre. An example of this is that pop magazines in order to appeal to teens use bright and flashy colors such as pink, where as classical magazines use calm color schemes in order to appeal to it’s older audience such as black and white.

From all of these genres Rock is perhaps the most popular. Many of the most popular music magazines fall under this category, these include Rolling Stone, Kerang, etc.

The target audience for rock magazines is quite diverse therefore the cover-page of such magazines usually varies as it is needed to attract the different audiences.

Another genre which is now gaining a rather large audience

around the globe is Electronic. Electronic music

has many sub genres such as Trance, House, Synthpop,

Dubstep etc.Many remarkable magazines are

categorized as being from the electronic genre; For example;

Dj magazine, Mixmag, etc.

The cover page of such magazines usually contains the use of neon colors to appeal to

it’s young audience

Classical music magazines usually contain the use of light colors in order to attract the older target audience. The text used is also quite elegant. A brief description of some of the articles is given on the Magazine cover.
