HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
Thursday, May 21st, is the Solem-
nity of the Ascension of the Lord, a
Holy Day of Obligation. A Mass
will be celebrated and live-
streamed on Thursday morning at
8:15 AM.
*Please remember in your prayers
our young men and women who
were scheduled to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation
from Bishop McManus at St. John Paul II Parish on that
evening. May the Holy Spirit enkindle in them the fire of
His love all the more as they await their anointing in Him.
MOTHERS’ DAY IS NOW MOTHERS’ MONTH!
For a $10 donation per name, you can enroll the special
women in your life in our annual Mother’s Day Remem-
brance. Prayers will be offered for them and their names
will be placed on the altar during the whole month of
May. Please send a check with your donation or you can
also use the Online Giving page in our website. Please call
our Business Office for further assistance at 508-347-7339.
REMINDER
We have “Drive-thru Confessions”
every Saturday starting at 3pm -
there will be signs and folks directing traffic.

Because of the pandemic situation we cannot organize a
specific date for our Annual Spring Clean Up, but you
could schedule a day to help us clean our Shrine grounds.
This will help us observe the protocols for Social Distanc-
ing and the 10-person limit. So if you are willing and able,
are looking for an opportunity for some fresh air and a
liCle exercise, give us a call so that we can assign you an
area for your own Spring clean up day! Please call 508-347-
7338.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
May 17, 2020
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you
. . . the Spirit of truth.”
— John 14:16–17
THE REASON FOR OUR HOPE
“What is the reason for your hope?” Imagine somebody
coming up to you and asking you that question. Not “What
are you hoping for?” or “What are you hoping to do?” No,
this isn’t about our desires for possessions or aspirations for
life, it’s “Why do you hope?” Peter today tells us that we
ought to be ready to give an answer to this question. Truth
be told, few of us spend much time thinking about why we
hope. Luckily, the scriptures today give us our answers. We
hope because Christ suffered for us, in order that we might
come to God. We hope because we know that, in the Spirit,
God grants us another Advocate through Christ to remain
with us always. No maCer what we might hope for, whatev-
er we might hope to do, we must always first know and pro-
claim the reason for our hope: the presence of God in Christ,
with us through the power of the Spirit.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Adults: What difficulties have you overcome because of
your belief in the power of the Holy Spirit?
Children: When are some times you need the help of the
Holy Spirit?
GETTING READY TO RE-OPEN
While we do not know what the date will be yet, we are al-
ready making plans for when we do start having public
Masses again. We know that we will need large amounts of
hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, gloves and masks. While
we are looking to our various suppliers to purchase these, as
we all know, quantities are limited. If you have any extra of
the above items which you would be willing to share with
us, we would be most grateful. Items can be left in the entry
way of the Parish Office. Thank you!
The Assumptionist Com-
munity of St. Anne - St.
Patrick Parish mourns the
death of Fr. Oliver
BlancheCe, AA, who died
on May 11, 2020. He
served as an Associate
Pastor at our Parish for
almost 19 years while being active in the Cursillo Move-
ment, RCIA, the Emmaus Spiritual Support Group among
others. He was also the inspiration for the FOFO (Friends of
Fr. Oliver) Group which was very active here in supporting
his ministry in Africa. He called his years as Associate Pas-
tor in our Parish his most meaningful assignment.
Rest in Peace Fr. Oliver!

THANK YOU!
In March, we had begun to talk
about this year’s diocesan Part-
ners in Charity Appeal, then eve-
rything changed. What we have
seen, in so many ways, is your
generosity and support of those
less fortunate. To date, you have contributed $32,526 to this
appeal. That is 61% 9f our goal of $53,200. Last year 196 pa-
rishioners donated. Currently, 102 have made gifts. We are
grateful for your generosity.
If you have not yet made a gift, you can do so in one of a
number of ways. Envelopes are available in the back of St.
Anne Church which you can either mail in directly or give it
to us and we will mail it in for you. You can make a gift on
line at the Partners in Charity website;
www.partners-charity.net
The services funded by the Appeal, such as Catholic Chari-
ties, are needed more today than ever. We encourage you to
make a gift of any size. It is that you give, rather than how
much you give, which is important.
