October 2011 Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association has Record Year with Boot Drive Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association held their annual Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy on Saturday, September 24th at the Cambridge Centre. In collaboration with Scotiabank, they were able to raise an incredible $26,525.47. The Cambridge PFFA was also the recipient of a 2011 Danielle Campo Extra Mile Award for their continuous fundraising efforts and for increasing awareness of those living with neuromuscular disorders in their community. Thank you to everyone involved with this year’s Boot Drive! Whitby Fire Fighters Raise $25,000 in Annual Boot Drive At Whitby’s last Association meeting their charitable committee presented Pamela Musgrave from Muscular Dystrophy Canada a cheque for $25,000.00 that was raised during their annual Boot Drive. Also there was Christina Massad who shared her heartfelt story of how she is dealing with muscular dystrophy in her everyday life and she thanked the Whitby Fire Fighters personally. The Charitable committee and the members that come out and help with the fundraisers should be proud of their accomplishment. Ajax Fire Fighters receive Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s 2011 Ontario Fire Department of the Year Award On October 11 th , The Ajax Fire Fighters received Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s 2011 Ontario Fire Department of the Year Award during a city Council meeting. During the meeting, the Fire Fighters also presented Muscular Dystrophy Canada with a cheque from their September 17 th Boot Drive which raised $20,022.37 for those affected. Congratulations! Rick Mills - Ontario Fire Fighter of the Year On September 24 th , National Ambassador Danielle Campo presented Richmond Hill Fire Fighter Rick Mills with Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s 2011 Ontario Fire Fighter of the Year Award. Congratulations Rick and thank you for all you have done for those affected with muscular dystrophy. Fire Fighter - MP Hockey Match Benefits Muscular Dystrophy Canada While Canadian IAFF members were in Ottawa to lobby their Members of Parliament October 23-26 during the 18th Canadian Legislative Conference, one group of fire fighters and MPs was also squaring off in a different venue Fifteen IAFF members and twenty Conservative MPs laced up for the second annual MP-Fire Fighter Charity Hockey Game, which was held at Scotiabank Place October 24th. While two mixed teams of IAFF members and MPs battled on the ice, the real winner was Muscular Dystrophy Canada, which received a donation of $2,600 from the charity event. The game was organized by Conservative MP Patrick Brown (Barrie, ON) and Barrie Local 1753 member Kevin White. Thanks to all of the Fire Fighters who participated as well as Ottawa Local 162 Executive Board member John Sobey, who coordinated transportation for players.

Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association has Record Year with Boot Drive

Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association held their annual Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy on Saturday, September 24th at the Cambridge Centre. In collaboration with Scotiabank, they were able to raise an incredible $26,525.47. Whitby Fire Fighters Raise $25,000 in Annual Boot Drive
