    Course Description

    Guitar Pedagogy (2 units). This course is designed to examine the historic and

    contemporary materials and techniques available for effectively teaching the guitar tostudents at all levels. The course surveys a wide range of method and studies, and

    examines the effectiveness of various pedagogical approaches to technique and

    interpretive analysis.

    Gui tar Pedagogy Notebook

    Keep a weekly journal as you listen to various guitarists and musiciansaround you. You will be required to bring this in and show me throughout thesemester. You may include rehearsals in performance groups (please keeppeople anonymous), radio, CDs, etc.

    The Notebook entries should focus on the following:1. Posture/Sitting position2. Right-Hand Technique3. Left-Hand Technique4. Tone Production/Nails5. Musicality (preparation of song & accuracy)6. True to musical style intent7. Stage presence
