Works by Antoniou, Couroupos, Händel, Schubert, Debussy and the premiere of Aias, a new work by Dimitris Makris,

commissioned by the Festival.

Monday, July 1st

Masterclasses 13:00-15:00, Chios Music Middle and High School

Individual lessons taught by guest performers of the festival: violin, piano, voice, flute, clarinet, horn, trombone, percussion,

cello, guitar, accordion, composition and conducting.

Baroque Arias and Schubert Lieder 20:00, Chios Music Middle and High School

Four short presentations on the influence of ancient Greek culture on European civilization.

The evening will include arias from baroque operas and songs by Franz Schubert.

Tuesday, July 2nd

A two-hour demonstration/concert for the young presented by the LyrAvlos Center of Greek Musical Heritage,

the 3rd Contemporary Greek Music Festival-Chios 2019 and the Ark of the World – Aegean.

13:00, Chios Music Middle and High SchoolA new series of piano books for the beginner

written by pianist and pedagogue Anna Daniilides. The approach is based on the Russian School combined with elements from other schools.

Iannis Xenakis

20:00, Homerion Cultural CenterXenakis scholar Antonios Antonopoulos,

discusses the topic of “Greek Antiquity in Xenakis’ work”. The evening includes performances of Xenakis’ works

Psappha, Keren, Dhipli zyia and Charisma.

Friday, July 5th

Music for Ancient Drama 21:00, Homerion Cultural Center

Agamemnon, Troyan Women, Lysistrata, Froggs and Homer’s Odyssey become the backdrop for the composition of new works

for about 60 musicians, actors and singers. Works by Antoniou, Couroupos, Logothetis, Kalogeras,

Deli (Hecuba, a new work commissioned by the Festival).

Saturday, July 6th

Presentation 10:00-12:00, Homerion Cultural Center

Pantelis Koyamis, speaker: Ancient Greek poetic meters as a tool of understanding concepts

in Classical and Romantic music. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

New Works by the Young 20:00, Homerion Cultural CenterCreative Workshop for the Young.

Students of 6th to 12th grade create new works in creative writing, theater, music and art based on Homer’s Odyssey.

In addition, pre-college level musicians perform works by master composers.

Wednesday, July 10th

Crossroads Project 21:00, The Chios Mastic Museum

Jazz, traditional Greek music, poetry by Odysseus Elytis and Aesop’s fables in ancient Greek,

create an unusual sound world of original compositions by Lefteris Kordis and Panayota Haloulakou.

Penny Muse Band features musicians from Greece, Boston, New York and Israel.
