The last school day for students will be Friday, December 16 but the staff will be engaging in professional learning and planning for 2012 the following Monday and Tuesday. We look towards a new beginning for the school in 2012 with Mr Daley beginning the year with the staff on Friday, January 27. Years 1 to 6 will be welcomed back to school on Monday, January 30 and Kinder students will begin by meeting their teachers on January 30 and January 31 when they participate in Best Start ready for their first full day on Wednesday, February 1. During the holidays, it is anticipated that the old hall, the entry to the hall, computer room and current 5/6S classroom will be repainted and new carpet laid in the entrance to the old hall, too. Progress is being made towards the installation of new play equipment outside the Kinder rooms, and arrangements are underway for removal of trees to ensure students’ safety in this area. The computer room and 5/6S room will become one large computer room and the transition may begin during the holidays. Class lists for each of the ten classes have been finalised and preparations for relocation of three classes are underway. Mrs Hill is moving into the classroom next door and Mr Stowe will share a class with Mr Gamble in what is presently the 3/4RJ room. Mr Johnston will move into the current 3/4R room, where he will teach fulltime. At this time, I would like to acknowledge Mr Bush, Mrs Ryder and Mrs Robinson. Mrs Ryder has very successfully completed a difficult task this year - sharing a class while Mr Johnston was teaching PE and Health K-6. Mrs Robinson became the 3/4R teacher in July and everyone enjoys visiting their classroom to view their visual arts! Mr Bush is going to teach computers K-6 in 2012 on Tuesday and Wednesday each week and his teaching of a Y3/4 class in 2011 is greatly appreciated by both his students and his colleagues. On a personal note, I would like to thank all of the teaching staff, the School Administrative Support Staff (including the teachers’ aides and our general assistant, Darryl), the students and the community of Murwillumbah Primary for their support during the two terms that I have enjoyed in your company. I have learnt a great deal and hope that I have been able to contribute to the future TERM 4 Wednesday 7 th December, 2011 First Published 1950
