Built towards the end of the fifties, the San Benedetto Market is, for every Cagliari resident, “the market” of all markets. Thought to be the largest covered market in Italy, and one of the largest in Europe, with its 8000 mq and 238 concessionaires, S. Benedetto is unique of its type. The building, recently restored, provides a fish market on the ground floor, while the upper floor is used for fruit and vegetables, meat, various produce, groceries and services.

The Via Quirra market was constructed in 1986 with the intention of serving the suburb of Is Mirrionis. It is made up of two floors. On the ground floor is the fish market, and a wing dedicated to meat, while the upper floor houses the markets for fruit and vegetable, meat, groceries and services. In the Via Quirra Market, 98 concessionaires currently operate.

Looked on as the market of Castello and Stampace, the Santa Chiara Market is currently the oldest of Cagliari’s Municipal Markets, located in the zone behind Piazza Yenne, in a location from which it is possible to admire one of the most beautiful views of Cagliari.
