Most Useful Tools

For my subsequent endeavors in multimedia production, I will lean toward using Video Pad.  Video Pad was the most useful tool in this series and the most challenging and time consuming but also, the most fun to use. Video Pad was the software downloaded to edit digital video.  It was not web based so it had to be stored on my computer.  The video clips were downloaded from the SD card to a file on my computer and then imported to Video Pad to be edited. Music was downloaded to my computer after purchasing the track from I-Tunes.  Video Pad recognized MP4 files unlike Audacity which did not, so file conversion was not necessary

The easiest tools to use were Pixlr and Animoto, which would be great tools to use in the classroom to motivate students to be creative.

Photo Editing and Sharing Project

This Slide Show was produced in steps including:

• Downloading Pics from my DVD• Creating a pixlr account• Editing, Cropping, Special Effects done using pixlr• Uploading the finished products to Photobucket

Audio Project

• The original recording was done using Garage Band on a Mac and saved as an MP4 file

• I converted the file to the wav format using Switch Sound.  Audacity does not accept the MP4 format

• An additional bass guitar track was recorded by me using audacity, mixed, edited and saved as a wav file

• Additional background noise was filtered the using Wave Pad software

• Since the edit was a large file, I saved it on Filedropper.com

• The Darling Edit was uploaded from Filedropper to Audioboo

Video Generator Project

• Pics were downloaded from my picture DVD to Picasa• Pics were edited in Picasa and saved  to my computer• I created an account on Animoto• Pics were uploaded from my computer to Animoto• I then used these uploaded pics to create my video with

transitions, a specific theme, and background music, title

Video Editing Project

• I decided to use Video Pad as my Digital video editing tool and downloaded it to my computer.

• As a precaution I created additional hard disc space.• From my SD Card, I downloaded the video clips to be

edited and used for my movie• Using Video Pad I edited the clips, added them to my

movie, added a title page and used a number of effects• Next I added an audio trak which I purchased from ITunes.• The last step was to adjust the audio clip time and adding

fade-in/out effects.• The final movie was then created to burn on a DVD and to

upload to YouTube.  The link is provided below for your viewing pleasure.

Successes and Challenges Using Multimedia Production Tools

Successes:• First ever movie produced

using Video Pad, a digital video editing console

• Posting my first videos on YouTube and Animoto

• Successfully storing large files on a web based server called File Dropper

• Initial experience in reformatting an MP4 audio file using Switch Sound before downloading to Audacity

Challenges:• Freeing hard disc space on

my computer to work with the larger audio and video file

• Obtaining acceptable sound quality using the available microphone to lay down a track to Audacity

• Finding the software online that will convert audio files to the desired format

My take on Multimedia in the Classroom and Moodle Online Learning

Without the benefit of the online course Multimedia in the Classroom I might not have been made aware of the abundant list of tools that are available for use in editing and recording audio and video.  Uploading finished products to sharing sites was motivation for me to produce a credible project.

It is very beneficial to have an instructor who has done the research and bookmarked the sites that could be used to complete the projects for the course.  All of the tools used in this course can be applied to classroom use for students to learn editing technique to apply their creative potential.

Moodle is an excellent medium to present a computer intensive course like Multimedia in the Classroom.  Personally i would not invest the time needed in a classroom that I invest in the comfort of home to complete the projects successfully
