Today, most of the railway signals are equipped with incandescent fi-lament bulbs. Such signalling equipment is expensive mainly because of maintenance costs, short life time and high energy consumption. Therefore, railway administrations are looking for alternatives - i.e. LED signals. Thales developed a new light signal product based on LED technology capable of fulfilling any colour specification according to DIN 6163–4, intensity requirements and life time. Using a single light point to display any colour, enables cost effective signalling solutions.
