Many of you will be aware that the concept of introducing 1.0 metre wide plasterboard into the market has been a passion of Pelican Systems owner and founder Rodney Gould for almost 10 years. During this time both South African plasterboard manufacturers were approached with the new concept, but both declined the request to produce 1.0m wide plasterboard stating that the risks and difficulties were too high. After more than 18 months of negotiation with our suppliers of JUMBO Board, the 8mm TE 1.0m JUMBO board is finally a reality and we would like to thank all those who contributed during the many discussions, and more recently during the product testing stage over the last three months with the 2000 sample boards. Those who know Rodney Gould know that he is above all passionate about the industry and not averse to taking risks. A forward thinker and entrepreneur we hope that this will be one of his most significant ideas and contributions to the industry. An industry 1st by Pelican Systems 1st - Metric plasterboard distributed in South Africa 1st - Thin board manufactured with a tapered edge 1st – Multi-purpose plasterboard in the industry 1st – Company with a 1.0 meter galvanized cross tee 1st – Company with an 8mm PVC H-Profile 1st – Ceiling board to be fixed at 500 centers We believe that the 8mm Jumbo Multi-Purpose Ceiling Board in 1.0m widths has the following problem solving properties: • Reduction of waste on site (environmentally friendly) • Reduction of material used (500 centers) • Ordering process is simplified • Easier on site planning • Reduced number of SKU items for distributors & merchants • Merchants can supply all ceiling systems with fewer SKU’s • Reduction in warehouse space needed • Truck utilization improves • Improved Export/Import – less damage, easier handling • 100 units per pallet – easy counting • All stock on Steel Easy-Mover Pallets As always we continue to look for new ways to service the industry with the objective being innovative products that improve operations and logistics, site conditions and allow for extra profitability.
