The exceptionally affordable Clearaudio Concept turntable has been an undisputed success for the brand, winning an impressive seven What Hi-Fi? The Concept’s concept is brilliantly simple: to deliver an elegantly styled turntable package that sports a level of groundbreaking technology usually only found in much higher-end decks, combining plug-and-play simplicity with outstanding sound quality and affordability. Now, with the new Concept Active, Clearaudio takes high-end simplicity to a whole new level. Aimed squarely at the increasing number of audiophiles and music lovers who crave the benefits of a high-performing system without the hassle of endless black boxes, it features an integrated headphone amplifier, so that the turntable and a pair of headphones are all you need to start spinning your vinyl. But don’t worry, if you want to listen through loudspeakers (instead of, or as well), the Concept Active also has a built-in phonostage and preamplifier with its own volume control,

so the whole package can be connected directly to a power amplifier – or any integrated amplifier, or even direct to a pair of active loudspeakers. The Concept Active package includes Clearaudio’s innovative Concept tonearm, featuring magnetic bearings designed to dispel the problematic issues of bearing friction and noise. Customers have the option to top this off with either Clearaudio’s Concept V2 MM or Concept MC cartridge. To complete this eminently appealing package, choose between a black finish, black and silver, or light or dark Baltic birch. All of the Concept Active’s key parameters – from tracking force to anti-skating – are fine-tuned as part of the manufacturing process, leaving you with nothing to do but sit back and enjoy. Construction Three-layer resonance-optimised ‘sandwich’ construction of (1) a non-fingerprint black acrylic top plate, bonded to (2) a one-piece MDF core with cut-outs for the electronics, motor and bearing (outer edge finished in silver or black lacquer), plus (3) a bottom plate in lacquered MDF. Note: ‘Wood’ version is one-piece multilayer birch plywood rather than MDF.
