“All Saints (November 1 or the first Sunday in November) is a day of remembrance for the saints, with the New Testament meaning of all Christian people of every time and place. We celebrate the communion of saints as we remember the dead, both of the Church universal and of our local congregations. For this reason, the names of persons in the congregation who have died during the past year may be solemnly read as a Response to the Word.” (UMC Board of Discipleship) We will remember those in our congregation who have died in the past year as well as all who have died. Communion will be celebrated at all three services. Families and friends of church members who have died this past year will be joining us for 11 a.m. in the sanctuary for worship. Following the reading of names, the Ainsworth Choir will present the Puccini Requiem with violist Emily Brandenburg. Trumpet Brandon Craswell will lead our congregation in the hymn For All the Saints as we conclude the service with this arrangement that begins poignantly and ends with great celebration. Rev. Dr. Matt Woodbery will preach at 9 a.m. Chapel and 11 a.m. Sanctuary Worship, and Rev. Jeff Cook will preach at 11 a.m. NewRoom Worship. Please invite family and friends to worship at MSUMC, especially those who have lost a loved one in recent years.

Our Music Ministry is hosting pianist Caleb Esmond in an afternoon program of classical music and hymns arranged by Caleb on Sunday afternoon, November 3, 3 p.m., in the Sanctuary. We are celebrating the release of his CD, Hymn Contemplations, recordings of his hymn arrangements. Admission is free, and a reception will follow. CDs will be available.

Three choirs combined under the direction of Robert McCormick. He’ll play a 30-minute

organ recital following Evensong. Mass choir comprises choirs from Christ Episcopal Church (Jonathan Alan Poe,

organist/director), St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Nadine Cheek, organist/director), and

Mulberry Street United Methodist Church (Tom Granum, organist/director)

Robert McCormick grew up at Mulberry Street UMC.

Open Your Eyes: Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention

It is unfortunate but true – human trafficking is all around us, but we often do not recognize it. In this program, a victim specialist with the FBI and an FBI special agent will provide information about human trafficking: the victims, the perpetrators, the organizational structure, how victims can be recognized, websites and apps used by predators, and human trafficking in Central Georgia.

Following their presentations, speakers from local rescue organizations and education groups will describe what is going on in Central Georgia to prevent trafficking and help victims.
