• Sand to be taken from area outlined in Cuban Study
• Smaller amount to be moved
• Material to be pumped on land, dewatered then placed by heavy equipment.
Sand for mangrove planting to be obtained from rivers
• Gradation of material developed by consultant in conjunction with UWI
• Slope of placed sand to be similar to that in productive mangrove area
Material Sourcing and Placement
Area for dredging was investigated by the Cuban study
EIA done for area in 2007
Beach License application submitted in 2013 and sign posted at site.
New EIA being conducted to verify:
• 1. availability of material
• 2. state of borrow area
• 3. state of environment around dredging area and sensitive receptors in vicinity
• 4. Address new developments and changes since 2007.
Utilities and Port authority notified of pending work.
